SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week (📉 Wallen & Rodrigo are Unstoppable: Scanning the Charts 📉 No. 9), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving. This week, I picked out SIX notable observations 🔎 from the Billboard 200 📉, and FOUR observations 🔎 from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Morgan Wallen spending his 8th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with 💿 Dangerous: The Double Album.
Billboard 200 📉
💭 As Keith Caulfield pointed out on his weekly write-up, there are no new albums in the top 10. It’s not surprising, hence, Wallen, who has the hottest album out, has continued to capitalize given no resistance. The sole new album in top 40 arrives courtesy of 🎙 Julien Baker (💿 Little Oblivions, no. 39).
💭 Shock rock icon 🎙 Alice Cooper sneaks into the top 50 with 💿 Detroit Stories, which launches at no 47.
💭 Country music icon 🎙 Willie Nelson debuts at no. 58 with 💿 That’s Life.
💭 🎙 Madison Beer only dents the Billboard 200. Her proper debut album, 💿 Life Support, debuts modestly at no. 65.
💭 Hard rocking, British metalcore collective 🎙 Architects don’t exactly set the charts on fire themselves. 💿 For Those That Wish to Exist, the follow-up to 💿 Holy Hell (2018), debuts at no. 80.
Billboard Hot 100 📉
💭 🎙 Pop Smoke debuts posthumously at no. 64 with 🎵 “AP.”
💭 🎙 Post Malone charts another Hot 100 single with 🎵 “Only Wanna Be With You” at no. 74.
💭 🎙 Elle King and 🎙 Miranda Lambert debut at no. 90 with the fantastic “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)”.
