11. One Direction, “Up All Night”

[Up All Night, 2012]

It’s safe to say that British boy band One Direction go dumb AF on “Up All Night.”  This is early 1D at its schmaltziest.  “Up All Night” comprises of having “Katy Perry on replay” and partying it “up all night.”  The chorus sums up the deep experience:

“I wanna stay / up all night and jump around until we see the sun / I wanna stay up all night and find a girl and tell her she’s the one…”

12. Drake ft. Nicki Minaj, “Up All Night”

Last but not least, another song entitled “Up All Night” – the third – graces the playlist.  Compared to the One Direction version, Drake’s take has a ton more swag. ‘Course, would 1D ever begin a bubblegum pop song the way Drake initiates “Up All Night?” No – that’s not part of the teen-pop script.

“Kush rolled, glass full – I prefer the better things / n*ggas with no money act like money isn’t everything / I’m having a good time, they just trying to ruin it / shout out to the fact that I’m the youngest n*gga doing it”

S-W-A-G.  He really drills it to the competition on the infectious, pop-rap hook:

“I’m about whatever man / f*ck what they be talkin’ about / they opinion doesn’t count / we the only thing that matters / so we do it how we do it / all up in your face man, I hate to put you through it / I be up all night, whole crew’s in here / cause I don’t really know who I’m a lose this year / Man, I love my team man I love my team / I would die for them n*ggas.”

Drake gets an assist from Nicki Minaj, who isn’t lacking in the swagger department in the least.
