7. Logic, “Upgrade”

[The Incredible True Story, 2015]

Logic upgrades musically on his sophomore album, The Incredible True Story – or so he asserts.  On “Upgrade,” he shoots a fatal bullet from the jump:

“Aye, let me just rap / I’ve upgraded while they’ve waited / will they love it, will they hate it / never faded I evade it / cause I never really want to complicate it.”

On the second verse, Logic flexes hard:

“My b*tch bad got sick figure / play one show and get six figures / we build bigger, money tall as a mountain, b*tch / I’ve got Hilfigers, like goddamn.”

Finally, on verse three, he could care less what others – specifically critics –  think about him:

“I don’t give a f*ck about their advice / I’m on another planet, no I’m not manic, b*tch I’m decompressed / know they can’t stand it cause I pilot it and manned it the best / all they demanded was I gave up and laid dream to rest…”

8. Drake, “Charged Up”

[2015]

Back in 2015, Meek Mill and Drake had a beef, started by Meek Mill.  After making accusations about Drake writing his own rhymes, Drake fired back with two diss tracks: “Charged Up” and “Back to Back.” From the jump, Drake shuts the Philly MC down:

“I did some charity today for the kids / but I’m used to it cause all y’all charity cases / all y’all stare in my face in hopes you could be the replacement / n*ggas is snitching on us without no interrogation / I stay silent ‘cause we at war and I’m very patient / Six god is watching, I just hope you’re prepared to face him / I’m charged up, I’m charged up.”

On the verses, it only gets worse, as Drake continues a slaughter fest, including a jab involving Nicki Minaj:

“No woman ever had me star struck / or was able to tell me to get my bars up / I’m charged up.”
