“Summertime, when the boys take their shirts off…”
Oops… 🤫 I might’ve misquoted the Gershwins… intentionally!  Am I wrong? 1. Matty M., “Hot n Shirtless”

“Crowd is tight, boys lookin’ fine / Sweat drips slow under neon signs.”
Woo! Ooh-la-la, Matty M. (Matthias März)! Give us more about them boys, dude! “Shirts come off, eyes on me / Living life, young and free.” Hell, yeah! If only I could be in my 20s again, sigh! The good news is, no matter what age, gays, bis, and allies, too, you can still slay, even vicariously, through the surefire dance bop, “Hot N Shirtless”. Matty M. came to play, literally!  He wrote and produced this shirtless dream.

“Hot N Shirtless” shines from the get-go.  It thrives on its bright production, with an ear-catching sound palette that includes sleek, edgy synths and a banging, anchoring beat. This dance cut, tailor-made for the gay bar/club, is set in a major key and features a quick tempo. The vocals are exuberant, youthful, and lusty 😈, while the melodies are quick, rhythmic, and tuneful.  There is only one verse, excerpted earlier, which establishes the atmosphere of the club. The chorus is the crème de la crème, emphasizing the beauty of the men, sans shirt, of course!

“Hot and shirtless, vibe so real

Boys together, sex appeal

Dance all night, lose control

Hot and shirtless, let it go

Hot and shirtless, vibe so real

Guys around me, that’s the deal

Move your body, hands in air

Hot and shirtless everywhere.”

Damn right! The drop/instrumental section follows the unforgettable chorus.  The music is electrifying, and a perfect catalyst for dancing… naughtily, if I might add.  There is a brief bridge – “Lights go low, your body’s close / Breath on neck, nobody knows / Boy, your fire, feel so right” – that continues to paint the picture of these fiery, MLM 👨‍❤️‍👨 experiences.  The chorus returns, in all of its glory, before that epic, badass instrumental concludes this engaging dance cut.  Matty M. does his big one on striking and titillating “Hot N Shirtless”.  Beyond the single cover art, can’t you picture those hot, sweaty, shirtless men right now 😍?

2. chiseledMen, “Shirtless in the Snow”

chiseledMen, Shirtless in the Snow [📷: chiseledMen]

“They swing their axe, in ice and frost / Their shirts are gone, but not their cost / Pants and boots are all they wear / Shirtless chests in frigid air.”
Mm, those lyrics made me feel something deep within 😈. Question, and it’s an important one, damn it! Did you know that you needed a song about shirtless lumberjacks 👀? The answer is likely no, however, after hearing the chiseledMen AI-generated dance bop, “Shirtless in the Snow”, you can’t unhear it! It’s too much… titillation that is! The Finnish 🇫🇮 AI creator has our full, undivided attention thanks to his descriptive lyrics describing these indisputable Adonis(es).

“Why no shirts when the snow blows deep? / Do they not love their skin to keep?” chiseledMen sings in the unforgettable chorus, and continues, “Frosty winds that bite and sting / Yet lumberjacks feel no such things.” Food for thought, I suppose.  The AI tools generate striking results.  “Shirtless in the Snow” features bright, sleek production work.  Set in a major key, the synths are colorful, while the vocals perfectly deliver infectious, lusty lyrics that highlight the desirability of those shirtless lumberjacks.  There is no way you can’t visualize those six packs, eight packs, V lines, etc.  Despite those unbearable temps, per chiseledMen, “Yet, still they laugh and flex their might / A shirtless clan in winter’s fight.” He continues, inquiring, “Is it pride, or some strange code / Naked strength on frosted road / Do they dare the cold to yield / Or just forgot their winter shield?” It’s intentional, or at least, that’s my theory. But the gay poetry is the gift that keeps on giving, whether it’s “Axes swing and muscles flexed,” “Nipples freeze,” or “Snowflakes melting on their backs.” Shyt, that’s hot! “Shirtless in the Snow” should be taken with a grain of salt. But, AI-generated or not, it’s fun, fun, fun!

3. yung gbm, “Shirtless”

“Shirtless” » Yung GBM » 2025

“I don’t care about your cheap clothes, I look better / I don’t care about your weak body, I look better.”
Oh, really, Yung gbm (Giovanni Moura)? Please, continue.  “I don’t care about your confidence, I look better / I’ve been, kept in silence, now my bars are gettin’ fatter.” He said what he said on the short but bold, cocky, and confident banger, “Shirtless”.  Before he indulges us with his give-no-fucks bars, “Shirtless” begins with a dizzying, rhythmic synth, establishing the minor key.  Following the introduction, when yung gbm gets to work, with ample attitude, a stomping beat provides a mean and mighty anchor.  As thrilling as the music is, the lyrics go even harder, including the likes of “Get sum bitches, I don’t give a fuck, how, much you have,” and “I, can, get, masochistic, and submissive.” Damn! Actually, fuck feels more appropriate in the context… But, wouldn’t be “Shirtless” without referencing shirtless-ness:

“I, like, when I can get shirtless

Don’t, save, me cuz I am worthless

You, should, go beneath the surface

My, life, no more than a circus.”

Yung gbm proves he is a piece of work on “Shirtless,” and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, looking respectfully, he does look 👀 good 👍 sans 🚫 shirt 👕!

4. Cassidi, “shirtless”

i know that we just met » Independent » 2024

Cassidi, i know that we just met [📷: Independent]

“I don’t have anybody I fuck with but you.”
Oh, wow, Cassidi (Cassidy Gerken)! She kicks off “shirtless”, the seventh and final track from her 2024 album, i know that we just met, with a bang.  Well, rather, a bomb 💣 🤭! Anyway, Cassidi wrote and produced the two-and-a-half-minute song, while Zeno Pittarelli co-produced it.

Regarding the production, it is superb. The musical backdrop is vibrant and warm.  Before Cassidi lets the f-bomb fly, “shirtless” commences with lovely, non-lyrical singing. When the lyrics kick in, she sounds lovely, singing smoothly, in a sultry fashion, with a gorgeous tone.  While she only gives us two brief verses, she makes them worthwhile. Beyond the lyrics excerpted from the first verse, she adds, “I don’t wanna give you pieces of me / But it comes so easily / You don’t know what it does to me.” Word.  In the second, she admits she’s obsessed: “I try to turn it off but I’m kind of obsessed / You bring it to the table, come show me what’s next.” Unsurprisingly, the chorus is the section to beat. Memorable and tuneful, she thinks about him… sans shirt… naked… in her bed:

“I imagine you shirtless in your bed, baby

All I see is you naked in my head, baby

All I want is you shirtless in my bed, baby

All I see is you, all I see is.”

Relatable, Cassidi, particularly if that bod is bodying, girl! Ultimately, “shirtless” is short but utterly sweet!

5. Mark Edwards, “Hairy Chest”

“I can be your baby, call me ‘son’ / Let me call you daddy, old white hot man / I’m a minor, don’t tell the cops…”
😳! Wow! Mark Edwards (Marcos Pedreira) delivers a sus, gay sex song with “Hairy Chest”.  NO, it’s not sus because it’s a gay sex song – let’s get that straight! The lyrics, excerpted from the ‘chorus’ of this non-traditional, spoken word song, signal an inappropriate relationship. Age gap relationships aren’t uncommon in the LGBTQ community, but the minor admits he’s underage! The chorus continues in questionable and salacious fashion, “You won’t hurt me like the others, I know / Pay my rent and eat my ass / You have this hot young boy for yourself.” Yikes! Pedreira penned and produced this quirky, unorthodox song.

Mark Edwards, Hairy Chest [📷: Marcos Pedreira]Before the chorus, there’s a conversation between this Daddy and boy. It should come as no surprise that this conversation hails from a porno 😳. Fun fact, or TMI, In some gay pornos, there are situations where these daddy/son dynamics fuel the fire, particularly that bedroom fire 😈.  The intro sets up this rendezvous that shouldn’t be happening. Of course, desire, lust, and horniness drive the narrative. “You saw me flex that ass,” the lyrics from the first verse say, continuing, “I saw you flex that big muscle / You could choke me with that.” Oh, snap! In the recurrent pre-chorus, the son admits, “I keep thinking of you / That hairy chest, those hairy legs / That long beard, your huge dick.” Instead of oh, snap, it’s more like oh, shit, with that said! Unsurprisingly, the son has daddy issues, but having sex with daddy doesn’t seem like the appropriate way to atone for them – just an observation! Still, desires are difficult to stave off evidenced by lyrics like, “Your lovely hair sweaty chest / Fuck I love it,” and the banging, “Come on papi, let’s fuck / I’m on four, let’s 69 / Licking your arms, kissing my neck / Hit me like you know, fuck me like I want.” “Hairy Chest” is something else 😳 😳 😳!

6.Davis Mallory, “Shirtless”

“So, like a tall glass of water / Got me thirsty / Can’t take my eyes off of ya / when you’re shirtless, when you’re shirtless…”
I’m not a fan of cocky guys, let alone those godawful, hedonistic, fuckboys. That said, like Davis Mallory on “Shirtless,” I appreciate legitimate eye candy.  On “Shirtless”, that eye candy is quite decadent from Mallory’s perspective – and buff, muscular, HOT! “Shirtless” features slick production work, courtesy of Joakim Buddee, who writes alongside Mallory.  The sound is bright, energetic, and enthusiastic. Regardless of sexual preference, think about how you feel when you see someone who’s fine as hell… That’s what “Shirtless” encapsulates.  The lyrics are ‘over the top’ and dramatic, yet, we’re all ‘extra’ when it comes to crushes, fantasies, and such.  “Shirtless” is not poetic, but there are memorable moments lyrically including “All of your muscles and your veins / Oh, they’re driving me insane / Raise my hands and singing praise / Thanking God for what he made / And the sun’s out / And your guns out.” JESUS!

7. Knox Fortune, “Shirtless”

“Yeah, my skins stuck to the leather / Of the seats inside your Volvo / It was purple like an orchid / It’s so hot. I took my shirt off.”
Shirtless Knox Fortune (Kevin Rhomberg)? We #Stan! Okay, silliness aside, on “Shirtless,” the alternative musician delivers an intriguing record.  Arriving near the end of his 2020 album, Stock Child Wonder, his ‘lack of a shirt’ is only part of the song’s narrative.  To be honest, he only mentions his shirtless-ness once, much to our chagrin… well, it’s not a big deal, ultimately.

“Shirtless” is more reflective and reminiscent than anything else.  Also, it’s quite a vibe with the colorful production and Fortune’s distinct vocals.  “Seen the horns and seen the halos / Seen the storms turn into rainbows,” he sings poetically in the second verse.  In the third, the wordplay is scintillating, referencing old-school cell phones and going somewhere totally different:

“Back when phones were Motorola’s

Yeah, I was razor sharp, raise a shark

Getting down in Lindberg Park

I was waiting for you, but you didn’t show up

Walked home ‘cause I felt I had to throw up.”

“Shirtless” in the hands of Knox Fortune – SEXY!

8. MOD SUN, “#noshirton”

BB » Rostrum Records » 2017

MOD SUN, BB [📷: Rostrum Records]

“No shirt on, head hanging out the window / Feeling myself, baby, you know how the shit go.”
If you’ve got it, then flaunt it. MOD SUN Movement On Dreams, Stand Under None (Derek Smith) looks good with “#noshirton.” But would he still go shirtless even if his body were less appealing? Probably not, judging by how carefree he sounds on the opener from his 2017 album, BB.  He continues rapping in the centerpiece, the chorus, “Now I’m getting so high, riding like she so low / No shirt on, head hanging out the window.” Woo! MOD SUN wrote and produced this shirtless banger.

The backdrop is bright, set in a major key.  The vibrance is fitting given the energy and positive vibes MOD SUN is sending up.  He’s young, confident, and filled with BDE.  In the first verse, he brags, “I got tats on my chest, gotta let that shit show / Yes, I am happy to be here, that’s just how I feel.” Word. He concludes the verse, asserting, “Goddamn dangerous, become an activist / I might save us all, in Mod we trust.” Woo! Showing he doesn’t give a fuck, in the second verse, he spits, “Who give a fuck if they diss you? / But y’all misuse tissues, you see, I only cry tears of joy.” Pretty wise, MOD, If I do say so myself.  In the pre-chorus, he encourages us to “spread love, not lust.” You know, the more I listen to this guy, his bare-chested, highly tatted self is making a lot of sense! Ultimately, MOD SUN serves up a heaping dose of fun and some sound advice on “#noshirton.” I only wish I had his confidence to let it all hang out 😝! Only in the privacy of the crib 😂!

9. Kenny Chesney, “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems”

No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems » BMG » 2002

Kenny Chesney, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems [📷: BMG]

“Been dreaming of gettin’ away since I don’t know,”
Grammy-nominated country musician Kenny Chesney (b. 1968) sings, and continues, “Ain’t no better time than now for Mexico.” Indeed! Chesney did his big one with the unforgettable “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems”. “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” is the ninth track from his multi-platinum 2002 album of the same name. Casey Beathard wrote the shirtless aughts country gem.  Chesney, Norro Wilson, and Buddy Cannon produced it. A top 40 pop hit, “No Shoes…” reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. It performed even better on the Hot Country Songs, peaking at number two.  The song was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Kind of a big deal? You bet!

Throughout “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” Kenny Chesney has vacation and the beach on his mind. “Want a towel on a chair in the sand by the sea,” he sings in the second verse, and concludes, “No boss, no polite, no stress, no dress code.” The no dress code part is key as, dare I say, ‘hunky’ Chesney wants to show off his bod, lying out in the sun. No shirt, folks! If you got it, then flaunt it!  And folks, that bod was bodying 😍! Yasss, Kenny was that country guy.  Of course, this was the song, too, thanks to its most memorable and tuneful section, the chorus:

“No shoes, no shirt, and no problems

Blues, what blues? Hey, I forgot ‘em

The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom

And no shoes, no shirt, and no problems

No problems.”

I have said a lot about Kenny’s carefree vibes and his shirtless-ness (That man’s good looking, period). But he also sings beautifully, with ease, matching the beachy vibes of this country joint.  There’s tropical-tinged pedal steel, mallet percussion, and the traditional country instrumentation, led by beefy guitar and heavy-handed drums. “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” is nothing short of a 2000s country bop, best experienced with its hunky country star shirtless, shoeless, and problem-less!

10. WHY?, “Shirtless, Sheetless, And”

Oaklandazulasylum » anticon » 2003

WHY?, Oaklandazulasylum [📷: anticon]

“Shirtless, sheetless, and sleepless on the edge of your queen-sized bed…”
Oh, my, WHY?! And so begins the brief (two minutes long) but striking “Shirtless, Sheetless, And”. At the time “Shirtless, Sheetless, And,” the 11th track from the 2003 album, Oaklandazulasylum, was released, WHY? was a solo project by alternative hip-hop and indie-rock musician, Yoni Wolf (Jonathan Wolf, b. 1979). Wolf wrote and produced the unique alternative cut that continues to catch the ears more than two decades after its release.

“Shirtless, Sheetless, And” is minimalist musically, yet packs a sizable punch, nonetheless.  Wolf is initially accompanied by a guitar. Yoni sings beautifully, bringing his dramatic, emotional, and intriguing lyrics to life.  A prime example appears later in the song: “So maybe you could kill me off in one of your songs.” Yikes! Adding to the beauty of his performance are the harmonies.  It’s not all classy and refined for Mr. Wolf, though. He drops an f-bomb 🫢, adding to the drama: “‘Cause every fucking word that I tell you is really self-addressed.” Holy fuck 🤭! As “Shirtless, Sheetless, And” progresses, it gets, um, a bit stranger. There is more oomph beginning with the lyrics, “Sure you saw me naked, but I never took my make-up off.”  He adds, “You don’t need me, your girlfriend goes cognito no nose mustache on.” Say what, WHY? In his final lyrics, Wolf asserts, “I’m not thrilled about anything… anything at all.” Word. The succinct but compelling “Shirtless, Sheetless, And” concludes with a 20-second instrumental outro (sound effects).  Unique from start to finish, this aughts alternative joint remains fresh.

11. Right Said Fred, “I’m Too Sexy”

Up » Gut Reaction, Ltd. » 1992

Right Said Fred, Up [📷: Gut Reaction, Ltd.]

“I’m too sexy for my shirt / Too sexy for my shirt / So sexy it hurts.”
If you’ve got it, flaunt it, right? Richard Fairbrass of Right Said Fred didn’t see the need to keep his shirt on, so he took it off! “I’m Too Sexy” is the third track on the English band’s 1992 album, Up.  Both campy and infectious to the nth degree, the single spent three weeks at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The platinum-certified single is a prime example of a one-hit wonder. Fairbrass isn’t only too sexy for his shirt – he’s too sexy for anywhere! This over sexiness includes being “Too sexy for Milan / New York, and Japan,” “Too sexy for my car,” Too sexy for my cat,” and “Too sexy for my love.” Going back to the cat, specifically, Fairbrass adds, “Poor pussy, poor pussy cat.” Ooh-wee! Of course, there’s one more set of lyrics worth analyzing – the chorus! “I’m a model, you know what I mean / And I do my little turn on the catwalk.” Confidence isn’t a bad thing as long as you’re not too cocky or hedonistic! Obviously, the lyrics aren’t deep – cringe to the nth degree –  but also fun and silly.  The music video only amplifies the cringe, but that’s the intent. The instrumental is groovy to the nth degree – it screams dance floor! Notably, this Tommy D-produced joint samples three songs: “Third Stone from the Sun” (Jimi Hendrix), “Think (About It)” (Lyn Collins), and “Hot Pants (Bonus Beats)” (Bobby Byrd).  Even if “I’m Too Sexy” is that one-hit-wonder you roll your eyes at every time it comes on, you can’t deny its impact in pop culture.  Oh, and it’s been sampled in other songs by big-name artists such as Drake, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé.
