Scanning the Charts (10/6/21): YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Coldplay x BTS bow at no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 respectively. 

Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out EIGHT notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and SEVEN observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 YoungBoy Never Broke Again debuts at no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 while 🎙 Coldplay and 🎙 BTS debut at no. 1 on the Hot 100.

💭 🎙 YoungBoy Never Broke Again dethrones 🎙 Drake! 💿 Sincerely, Kentrell debuts respectably at no. 1 on the Billboard 200. 

💭 🎙 Drake sees 💿 Certified Lover Boy slip to no. 2 following three consecutive weeks crowning the Billboard 200.  Crunching the numbers, YoungBoy only beat him by a few units.

💭 Debuting just outside the top-10, 🎙 iTZY debuts at no. 11 with 💿 Crazy in Love: The 1^st Album.   

💭 How the mighty fall! 🎙 G-Eazy misses the top-10 with his latest album, 💿 These Things Happen Too.  These Things Happen Too debuts at no. 19. 

💭 🎙 Angels & Airwaves earn a top 40 start with 💿 Lifeforms (no. 36).   

💭 🎙 Sufjan Stevens and 🎙 Angelo De Augustine launch at no. 115 with 💿 A Beginner’s Mind.    

💭 The 💿 Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack debuts modestly at no. 183. 🎙 Tremonti doesn’t exactly light up the charts with 💿 Marching in Time (no. 184).  Similarly, 🎙 Westside Gunn just cracks he BB200 with 💿 Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side B (no. 196). 

💭 Two musicians failed to chart on the Billboard 200: 🎙 Anthony Hamilton (💿 Love is the New Black) and 🎙 Alessia Cara (💿 In the Meantime). So disappointing considering both artists deserve better.

Billboard Hot 100 📉 

💭 🎙 Coldplay and 🎙 BTS debut at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “My Universe”.  Is anyone shocked? Not this guy!

💭 🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Justin Bieber sees 🎵 “Stay” slip from no. 1 to no. 2.  They have 🎙 Coldplay and 🎙 BTS to thank for that!

💭 🎙 Wizkid is on the rise with 🎵 “Essence” featuring 🎙 Justin Bieber and 🎙 Tems. “Essence” ascends from no. 14 to no. 11, its current peak position.

💭 The first of many 🎙 YoungBoy Never Broke Again songs debuts at no. 28, 🎵 “Bad Morning.”  

💭 🎙 Joyner Lucas and 🎙 J. Cole debut at no. 32 with 🎵 “Your Heart.”

💭 Perhaps things are indeed 🎵 “Too Easy” for 🎙 Gunna and 🎙 Future, who launch at no. 38 on the Hot 100.

💭 🎙 GIVĒON debuts at no. 91 with his fantastic single, 🎵 “For Tonight”.
