Yellow Claw, New Blood [Photo Credit: Barong Family]Yellow Claw continues releasing singles in advance of their new album, ‘New Blood.’ “Public Enemy” pairs the Dutch duo with DJ Snake.

Dutch producer/DJ duo Yellow Claw –  Jim Taihuttu and Nils Rondhuis – are known for “bass-heavy productions and riotous performances.”  The duo has dropped numerous singles in 2018, in preparation for their third album, New Blood.  Singles released in advance of the project include “Villain” (featuring Valentina), “Bittersweet” (featuring Sofia Reyes), Fake Chanel” (featuring A$AP Ferg and Creek Boyz), and “To the Max” featuring MC Kekel, Lil Debbie, Bok Nero, and MC Gustta. Taihuttu and Nils work alongside Parisian DJ/producer DJ Snake (William Grigahcine) for their latest joint, “Public Enemy.”

Expectedly, “Public Enemy” is the ultimate production showcase – there’s no other way to put it.  The listener is treated to an array of colorful synths, more often ‘hard’ than not, and some truly sick programming.  The drum programming is incredibly intense, pummeling and leading into the various, intriguing sections of this mostly instrumental gem.  There are vocal synths that keep things interesting, fitting right into the production without a hitch.  Beyond that, the lyric “Click and clack, let’s go” twice leads into instrumental sections, while the energetic outro, spiced up with an MF-bomb, closes out the ear candy.  The effect is, “DJ Snake and Yellow MF-ing Claw.”

Final Thoughts

Yellow Claw are “hot as hell,” if we are to quote the 2017 Juicy J song.  Single after single is chocked-full of energy and proves to be extremely well-crafted and memorable.  It’s no surprise that a union of Taihuttu, Rondhuis, and Grigahcine yields sheer musical excellence.
