Unfortunately, the reunion of will.i.am and Britney Spears is botched by their dated, silly, and slightly undercooked pop single, โMIND YOUR BUSINESS.โ
โMind your business, bitch.โ WOO! Coming in hot, ๐ Britney Spears! Spears collaborates with ๐ will.i.am on the unreleased single, ๐ต โMIND YOUR BUSINESSโ. โMIND YOUR BUSINESSโ is brand-new to the world, however it dates back to the 2010s. On the positive side, itโs great to hear Britney on a new song, even if it is old. Less positive is the fact that โMIND YOUR BUSINESSโ is quirky โpolarizing and, maybe, just maybe, not good enough for a superstar like Spears. ย The repetition doesnโt help โ โWhere she at? Where she at? Where she at? Where she at? Where she at?โ and, the chorus, โMind your B, mind your B, mind your B, mind your Bโฆโ WOO!
โMIND YOUR BUSINESSโ is produced by will.i.am and ๐ Johnny Goldstein. Sound-wise, it reminds me of will.i.amโs productions popular back in the 00s and 10s. ย Is the sound a bit dated? A tad, or so my ears tell me. Even though the backdrop is unusual, there are some interesting musical cues, including the synths and the way the background vocals are used, particularly on the word, bitch. A clear pro is the attitude that Spears brings to the track.ย Her performance is gimmicky and tongue-in-cheek, an approach that works okay with her artistically. That said, does this, โMIND YOUR BUSINESS,โ sound like vintage Britney? Nah but give her credit for the effort. Personally, I found myself disappointed by ๐ต โMIND YOUR BUSINESSโ.ย I wanted to like it for the love of Britney, and even will.i.am, but after hearing it, I see why it wasnโt released โ it just flat out falls short of the glory. Stans might swear by it for the simple fact of hearing a โnewโ Britney joint, but as for me, I believe both artists have released better songs.
