The Kid LAROI, GIRLS – REMIX [📷: Columbia Records]Grammy-nominated pop artist The Kid LAROI taps Grammy winner Kehlani for the brief but infectious “GIRLS – Remix.”

“Fuck your ex-man, I’m the man now / Think I feel bad, he was fanned out.”
Those loaded lyrics by The Kid LAROI (Charlton Howard) were part of the charm of his brief, summery single, “GIRLS” from THE FIRST TIME (DELUXE VERSION). The Kid returns with “GIRLS – Remix”, where he taps Grammy-winning R&B singer-songwriter Kehlani for the assist.  The results remain positive.

Much of what made “GIRLS” the sugar, honey, iced tea remains intact on the remix. The percussive groove is still EVERYTHING. The sophisticated, vibrant production by Rogét Chahayed, Tenroc, Pete Nappi, and Jon Bellion remains lit.  Post-intro, we are treated to the infectious chorus, performed by The Kid LAROI. “Girls just wanna dance, uh, ayy / Girls just wanna have fun,” he sings, continuing, “I don’t know your plans, ayy / I just wanna, uh, get some.” Following his verse, pre-chorus, and chorus, Kehlani appears for the first time, replacing the original second verse. “Girls just wanna spend a big bag that don’t belong to ‘em,” she sings beautifully, and adds, “Call your fine rich friends for my bad bitches / Black truck, we can run it all night / Fuck it up, start a fire all night, that’s right.” After providing her Midas touch, Kehani and The Kid join forces on the chorus, bridge (most of it), and the final chorus. The synergy is tremendous. As said previously, ‘ultimately, there’s no way you won’t rock your body to “GIRLS”.’ The same can be said of the “GIRLS – Remix” with Kehlani’s presence lifting the track to higher heights.
