SG Lewis, times | Album Review

British DJ, producer, singer and songwriter SG Lewis impresses on his picturesque debut album, times.

Canadian DJ/Producer KAYTRANADA delivers quite the groovy, vibe-laden instrumental gem with his first single of 2021, “Caution.”

British R&B singer Mahalia, assisted by Rico Nasty, shines on “Jealous,” a simultaneously cool and aggressive joint that packs quite a punch.

CJ brings ample energy on Loyalty Over Royalty, but lacks profundity, failing to bring distinct artistry or transcendence to the table.

Brent Faiyaz shines on the socially conscious, spiritually driven “Eden,” appearing on Black History Always / Music for the Movement Vol. 2.

Ascending pop artist Still Woozy returns with his first single of 2021, the chill, intriguing, and totally ear catching “Rocky.”

Pop standout Conan Gray absolutely slays on “Overdrive,” his first single of 2021. The record is a certified B-O-P.

AJR remain polarizing to some degree, but “Way Less Sad” is well-produced, relative enjoyable, and ultimately, inoffensive.
