he new year has arrived, and Spectral Display’s song ‘It Burns You When It’s Hot’ perfectly captures the new year’s spirit. This new song explodes through the speakers with ease, following in the footsteps of other famous musicians who are mixing an 80s sound with a modern texture. Even though, unlike many others in the game, this band has the advantage. Furthermore, they date back to the 1980s, when they had their first great success in the music industry.
However, fast forward to the present day, and the Dutch group still have the magic up their sleeves! ‘It Burns You When It’s Hot’ is bursting with vibrancy, which is what makes it so enjoyable! It begins with a rising synth overture that ushers in a dream-like mood. The drums tap away with enticing snaps while vocalist Paul Simon rises to the top of the mix, delivering an instantly tantalising performance.
Michel’s music production is challenging to criticise as the synths place themselves effectively on top of captivating bass patterns. The journey is thrilling, with the significant hook from the opening reappearing after the refrain. It has an earworm quality that will stay with you for a long time. Another notable feature of this track is its inspiration from various musical traditions, infusing a pop flavour into an electronic movement.
