~ Song Reviews 🎵 ~

Ah, welcome to the page that is dedicated solely to Single & Track reviews. Singles and tracks of various styles are evaluated in this section of The Musical Hype – We don’t discriminate. Track reviews are also available on the home page.

More often than not, the single reviews on the site tend to follow a format that includes an intro paragraph with background information, a body, comprised of 1-2 paragraphs of analysis, and a concluding paragraph that ‘puts a cap’ on things. Each track also receives a star rating, on a scale of 0 – 5 (½ stars are used as well), that is visible at the beginning and ending of the review.

5 out of 5 stars = MASTERPIECE

4.5 out of 5 stars = NEAR MASTERPIECE

4 out of 5 stars = EXCELLENT

3.5 out of 5 stars = VERY GOOD

3 out of 5 stars = AVERAGE / GOOD

2.5 out of 5 stars = BELOW AVERAGE

2 out of 5 stars = MEDIOCRE

1.5 out of 5 stars, 1 out of 5 stars, 0.5 out of 5 stars, 0 out of 5 stars = BAD

Track reviews generally run a minimum of 250 words with many running north of 300 words. So, music enthusiasts everywhere – Musical Hypeians worldwide – get your fix of single & track reviews down below!!!

The Musical Hype

Jake Paul, ‘My Teachers’ | Track Review

Back with another single,“My Teachers,” Jake Paul, assisted by Sunny and AT3 (Anthony Trujillo), rather than honoring his teachers, he criticizes them. So respectful.

Lenny Kravitz, ‘It’s Enough’ | Track Review

Lenny Kravitz makes it clear he’s not happy with the current social-political climate on “It’s Enough,” the promo single for his forthcoming album, ‘Raise Vibration.’

Stanaj, Dirty Mind | Track Review 🎵

Stanaj continues to build his case as the next big pop star on “Dirty Mind,” featuring ubiquitous collaborator, Ty Dolla $ign.

Grammy-winning R&B artist Ne-Yo shines on “Apology,” the apologetic advance third single from his highly-anticipated seventh studio album, ‘Good Man’ arriving June 8, 2018.

Following the release of his full-length debut album, ‘In Tongues,’ R&B artist Joji (George Miller / Filthy Frank) releases a brand-new single, “Yeah Right.”

Selena Gomez, ‘Back to You’ | Track Review

Selena Gomez embodies the spirit of the ‘romance’ of ‘13 Reasons Why’ into single and the 13 Reasons Why: Season 2soundtrack opener, “Back to You.”

James Bay, ‘Slide’ | Track Review

Grammy-nominated English singer-songwriter James Bay releases “Slide,” the fourth and presumably the final advance single from his sophomore album, Electric Light.’

Meghan Trainor, ‘Can’t Dance’ | Track Review

Grammy-winning pop artist Meghan Trainor returns with “Can’t Dancer,” her second single released in 2018 following “No Excuses” and “Let You Be Right.”

Cole Swindell, ‘The Ones Who Got Me Here’ | Track Review

Cole Swindell returns with a beautiful, reminiscent, and tasteful ballad, “The Ones Who Got Me Here.” Albeit sound, the ballad is also predictable, lacking innovative spirit.

Rita Ora, ‘Girls’ | Track Review

Perhaps her heart was in the right place, but Rita Ora falls short on her star-studded bisexually-driven anthem, “Girls,” which features Cardi B, Charli XCX, and Bebe Rexha.
