Skrillex, Too Bizarre | Track Review 🎵

Grammy winner Skrillex, assisted by Swae Lee & Siiickbrain, drops an ‘odd-ball’ single that lives up to its title, “Too Bizarre.”

Some songs have the perfect title.  When it comes to the new 🎙 Skrillex joint, 🎵 “Too Bizarre”, it’s definitely fitting. How so? Well, honestly, this is just a very distinct, odd record – it definitely stands out! Joining the 🏆 Grammy-winning electronic producer is 🎙 Swae Lee and 🎙 Siiickbrain for a song that you might characterize as quite a trip. 

From the onset, the sound of “Too Bizarre” is intriguing. Skrillex produces alongside 🎛 Heavy Mellow and 🎛 Rex Kudo.  The backdrop certainly sets the tone. From there, Swae Lee is true to self with his mellow vocal performance.  Basically, if you’re familiar with Swae, what he serves up is molded in the same script. Personally, while I appreciate Lee musically, at times, he’s too mellow and somewhat predictable or my tastes. He’s respectable here by all means. Following his first verse, he handles most of the chorus, with some minor contributions from Skrillex and Siiickbrain.  Where Siiickbrain’s ‘bread is buttered’ is the post chorus, which is wild AF, bringing a punk energy:

“Break up me or make love
Turn it up... burn it up
Fu-uck up all my makeup
Fuck it up, fuck it up.”

Sure… From there we get two more Swae Lee verses, with the chorus in between.  Following his third verse, that colorful Siiickbrain post-chorus follows.  Worth noting, of course, Swae Lee drops a few lines alongside her.  Again, the results are certainly interesting. 

Final Thoughts 💭

So, what does one make of “Too Bizarre?” Well, truly for some, it will be a bit ‘too bizarre’ to get into.  It’s definitely ear catching – I’ll give Skrillex and company credit for that.  Does it tickle my fancy? Hmm, I’m not sure.  The second time listening was certainly better than the first, so there’s that. Some will heart it, others, not so much.  Personally, I think it is worth checking out and making your own decision. Might take a couple of listens, of course.
