Saccades, Islands Past | Single Notez 🎶

[usr 4]

The Musical Hype provides some quick thoughts on the incredibly trippy single “Islands Past,” by Saccades (Nicholas Wood).

🎵 Single/Song/Track: “Islands Past”

📻 Genre: Alternative, Rock, Psychedelic

🎙¹ Lead Artist/Band: Saccades

🎙² Featured Guests: N/A

💿 Album: Flowing Fades

The Single Notez 🎶:

➕ Lovely evolving pad at the onset; definitely catches the ear

➕ Gorgeous instrumental background overall on “Islands Past”; quite the vibe is cultivated, in the most alternative/psychedelic way possible

➕ Chilled-out vocals by Saccades; his subtler approach perfectly fits the alternative/psych aesthetic

➕ Nice use of an instrumental interlude of sorts, following the chorus (“Please / Just / Let me dream…”)

➕ Brilliant contrast on the second verse; the instrumental pulls back, allowing more space for the vocals and more space in general

➕ Excellent songwriting; love the trippy nature of the lyrics, coupled with the colorful backdrop

➖ Cons? What cons?

Memorable lyric:

“Please
Just
Let me dream
I’m older
now
And I can’t
Change.”

🔏 In Closing:  Saccades (Nicholas Wood) drops an incredibly colorful, enjoyable, and trippy single, “Islands Past.” “Islands Past” which serves as the promo single for  Flowing Fades (arrives April 9, 2021).
