Ruel (Ruel Vincent Van Dijk), merely a teen, exhibited tremendous talent.  Now, as a twentysomething, his voice has only grown.  The Australian pop singer-songwriter is the full package.  He taps American singer-songwriter Sadie Jean for a fabulous single, “Another You.” Van Dijk, Joshual Murty, Alna Hofmeyr, and Neil Ormandy composed “Another You.” Murty produced it and played multiple instruments.

“Another You” begins with a brief, enigmatic intro.  Our star, Ruel, draws first blood. “When it was you across the table, I had everything,” he sings in the first verse, and continues, “All the memories that I’ve been imitating / Any way to bring you back again.”  Those pesky matters of the heart are hard at work. Van Dijk delivers beautiful, expressive, and nuanced vocals.  Following the pre-chorus, where “It would take a miracle to take my mind off you,” he Ruel, alongside Sadie Jean, ate and left no crumbs during the centerpiece, the chorus:

“Yeah, I thought that sooner or later, the harder I tried

Maybe I’d find you in somebody’s eyes

A beautiful stranger, but I want you more

And I can’t forget how it felt to be yours

Oh, I swear I really tried to love her

But therе could never be anothеr you.”

Sadie Jean takes the reins during the brief second verse. The vibe is the same as Ruel’s – she can’t stop thinking about him! Jean’s vocals are equally lovely. She joins him in the second pre-chorus, and they soar during the second chorus. Their synergy is awesome! They continue to mesh superbly during the bridge section with rhythmic melodies and memorable lyrics. “How long more can I / Go searching every corner of the universe for your lookalike?” Noted.  During the final chorus, Ruel and Sadie Jean continue their musical magic, concluding they’re meant for one another.  Aww! Ultimately, “Another You” is another winner for Ruel.  He and Sadie Jean, they did that!
