Rod Wave, Lil Nas X Top: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 14 [πŸ“·: Alamo, Brent Faulkner, Columbia, The Musical Hype]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (4/10/21): Rod Wave tops the Billboard 200, while Lil Nas X tops the Hot 100.

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β  To reiterate what I said last week (πŸ“‰ Justin Bieber Tops Both Charts: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 13), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.Β  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰, Β and THREE observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Rod Wave earning his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and πŸŽ™ Lil Nas X debuting at no. 1 on the Hot 100. Β

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰Β

Rod Wave, SoulFly [πŸ“·: Alamo]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Rod Wave earns his first no. 1 album with πŸ’Ώ SoulFly.Β  He knocks πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber out of the top spot. Don’t cry for Bieber too much as πŸ’Ώ Justice slips just one spot to no. 2.

πŸ’ There are four more debuts in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. πŸŽ™ NF and πŸŽ™ Carrie Underwood launch at nos. 3 and 4 respectively (πŸ’Ώ Clouds (The Mixtape) and πŸ’Ώ My Savior). πŸŽ™ Young Dolph and πŸŽ™ Key Glock unleash πŸ’Ώ Dum and Dummer 2 while πŸŽ™ AJR scores another top 10, πŸ’Ώ OK Orchestra.Β Β

πŸ’ Two more debuts grace the top 20: πŸŽ™ Evanescence serves up πŸ’Ώ The Bitter Truth (no. 11), while πŸŽ™ Karol G drops πŸ’Ώ KG0516 (no. 20). Β

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ 24kGoldn debuts modestly at no. 22 with his debut album, πŸ’Ώ El Dorado.Β Β

πŸ’ After securing the runner up spot on last week’s chart, πŸŽ™ Lana Del Rey sees πŸ’Ώ Chemtrails Over the Country Club slide to no. 40 in its second week. Ouch!

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰Β

Lil Nas X, "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" [πŸ“·: Columbia]πŸ’ Despite all of the controversy surrounding it, πŸŽ™ Lil Nas X debuts at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œMontero (Call Me by Your Name)”.Β  He ends up bumping πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber’s 🎡 β€œPeaches” to the no. 2 slot.

πŸ’ With his album debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, it’s not surprising that πŸŽ™ Rod Wave nabs a high debut on the Hot 100 too.Β  🎡 β€œRicher” (featuring πŸŽ™ Polo G) starts at no. 22. Β It is just one of many debuts from πŸ’Ώ SoulFly.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift unsurprisingly earns another debut on the Hot 100, though 🎡 β€œYou All Over Me (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]” featuring πŸŽ™ Maren Morris doesn’t make a huge wave (no. 51).
