Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (4/10/21): Rod Wave tops the Billboard 200, while Lil Nas X tops the Hot 100.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week ( Justin Bieber Tops Both Charts: Scanning the Charts
No. 13), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that
moving. This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and THREE observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Rod Wave earning his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and
Lil Nas X debuting at no. 1 on the Hot 100.
Billboard 200
Rod Wave earns his first no. 1 album with
SoulFly. He knocks
Justin Bieber out of the top spot. Donβt cry for Bieber too much as
Justice slips just one spot to no. 2.
There are four more debuts in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
NF and
Carrie Underwood launch at nos. 3 and 4 respectively (
Clouds (The Mixtape) and
My Savior).
Young Dolph and
Key Glock unleash
Dum and Dummer 2 while
AJR scores another top 10,
OK Orchestra.
Two more debuts grace the top 20:
Evanescence serves up
The Bitter Truth (no. 11), while
Karol G drops
KG0516 (no. 20).
24kGoldn debuts modestly at no. 22 with his debut album,
El Dorado.
After securing the runner up spot on last weekβs chart,
Lana Del Rey sees
Chemtrails Over the Country Club slide to no. 40 in its second week. Ouch!
Billboard Hot 100
Despite all of the controversy surrounding it,
Lil Nas X debuts at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with
βMontero (Call Me by Your Name)β. He ends up bumping
Justin Bieberβs
βPeachesβ to the no. 2 slot.
With his album debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, itβs not surprising that
Rod Wave nabs a high debut on the Hot 100 too.
βRicherβ (featuring
Polo G) starts at no. 22. It is just one of many debuts from
SoulFly.
Taylor Swift unsurprisingly earns another debut on the Hot 100, though
βYou All Over Me (Taylorβs Version) [From the Vault]β featuring
Maren Morris doesnβt make a huge wave (no. 51).
