ick Rutherford is back, and he paves his path with ‘Words‘. It is a release which pushes the Colorado-based rock and roller to new heights, and he takes a no prisoner approach with his energy gushing out like a faulty tap.

The guitar takes the opener with a traditional rock method. Furthermore, the amp spills out with feedback, and although it is not hugely original given the number of times it has stood before, it still grips. Traditionally, rock stays raw and edgy, and it appears that Rick is trying to emulate that original vibe which came out of the industry decades previous. He does it well, and despite mix being concise, it still brings back memories.

But is it too nostalgic? New elements do rise out as the mix progresses, but many of the pieces appear to influence some of the best bands previous. So much so, a new and fresh direction could be advantageous for Rick moving forward. But, a shockwave for this track is spreading; therefore, he must be doing something right.

Overall, ‘Words‘ speaks for the many with a lyrical direction prevalent in the current times. Also, the music kickstarts rock and roll in 2021, and it takes us on an adventure from the outset. Additionally, his ability to keep his mix alive from start to finish is refreshing, and the stimulating effect that his music provides leaves a long-lasting impression.
