ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and EIGHT observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Polo G and 🎙 Migos debuting at nos. 1 and 2 respectively on the Billboard 200./otw_shortcode_dropcap]

Billboard 200 📉

Polo G, Hall of Fame [📷: Columbia]💭 We always knew it was going to be competitive – or at least, I thought so. Ultimately, 🎙 Polo G earned his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Hall of Fame.  The album moved a respectable 143,000 units.

💭 🎙 Migos settle for the runner up slot on the Billboard 200.  💿 Culture III still moved a respectable number of units as well with 130,500 per Keith Caulfield of Billboard.

💭 Two more albums debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.  K-pop’s 🎙 TWICE starts at no. 6 with 💿 Taste of Love: The 10th Mini Album.  Also, 🎙 Maroon 5 launch at no. 8 with 💿 JORDI. Of course, the charts have been kinder to 🎙 Adam Levine and company in the past.  37,000 units isn’t the sexiest number ever…

💭 Missing the top 10, 🎙 Mammoth WVH, which features 🎙 Wolfgang Van Halen (son of the late, great 🎙 Eddie Van Halen), debuts at no. 12 with – wait for it – 💿 Mammoth WVH.

💭 Several more albums debut in the top-50.  🎙 Garbage bows at no. 33 with 💿 No Gods No Masters.  🎙 Pi’erre Bourne debuts t no. 35 with 💿 The Life of Pi’ere 5.  💿 In The Heights soundtrack lifts off at no. 45.

💭 🎙 Migos earn the highest debut on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Having Our Way” featuring 🎙 Drake.  “Having Our Way” appears as the second track from 💿 Culture III.  As to be expected, Migos earn multiple debuts on the Hot 100.

💭 🎙 Megan Thee Stallion secures another respectable debut as 🎵 “Thot Shit” – I ‘shit’ you not, that’s the name of the track – launches at no. 16.

💭 🎙 Polo G already secured at huge hit with former no. 1 🎵 “Rapstar” which sits at no. 11 this week.  The highest debuting track from 💿 Hall of Fame arrives at no. 26 courtesy of 🎵 “No Return” featuring 🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Lil Durk.

💭 🎙 Doja Cat debuts at no. 38 with her latest bop, 🎵 “Need to Know”.

💭 Following a four-year-hiatus, 🎙 Lorde returns to the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Solar Power” which launches at no. 64.
