Pharrell Williams, Airplane Tickets | Song Review 🎵

Pharrell Williams, Swae Lee, and Rauw Alejandro deliver good vibes and make sweet music on their Latin-infused single, “Airplane Tickets.”

“Only thing she care about is whereabouts / Eye contact, she stare me down, wanna wear me out.” Um, sure, 🎙 Swae Lee, sure! Lee collaborates with 🎙 Pharrell Williams and 🎙 Rauw Alejandro on the single, 🎵 “Airplane Tickets”.  Given the personnel, “Airplane Tickets” ends up being a unique ‘pop’ cut. Naturally, Williams puts in most of his work behind the boards.  The typical, Pharrell-ean production cues are in play – his style and sound remain fresh.  Adding to the unique groove are Latin urban vibes, which feels fitting with the appearance of the talented Rauw Alejandro. 

Of course, before Rauw gets into the mix, it is Swae Lee who sets the tone. True to self, Lee keeps the vibes mellow AF.  The lyrics he sings in the first verse are simple – not the most poetic songwriting ever.  Even so, it’s a vibe, and leads into a tuneful chorus. Even more tuneful, however, is the post-chorus, where Lee asserts, “I got airplane tickets with your name on them, eh, eh, eh / And, girl, you’re fine by me ‘cause you’re good money, eh, eh, eh, eh.” Eh, eh, indeed! Rauw delivers sweet, Spanish vocals as he enters the mix in the second verse. However, Rauw sings in English in the second chorus, singing several lines alongside Lee. Rauw takes on the second post-chorus, performing exclusively in Spanish, which is hella cool. Lee drops the bridge following the Alejandro post-chorus. Notably, the melody is unique – gotta love the power of accidentals! The final post-chorus finds Lee and Alejandro trading lines in English and Spanish respectively.  All told, Pharrell Williams, Swae Lee, and Rauw Alejandro deliver good vibes and make sweet music on 🎵 “Airplane Tickets”.  The song may not change your life, but in the midst of winter, it is sure to warm up your playlist!
