Peach 🍑: 3BOPS No. 23 (2021) [📷: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, RitaE from Pixabay]On the 23rd edition of 3BOPS, we select three awesome songs that are associated with a PEACH or PEACHES in some form or fashion.

On 3BOPS, we are totally dedicated to keeping things L-I-T-E! Similar to 5ive Songs, there’s a topic and a short blurb, only with THREE songs instead of FIVE.  Yes, it’s a playlist, but it’s a miniature playlist that shouldn’t take much time to consume.  On the 23rd edition of 3BOPS, we select three awesome songs that are associated with a PEACH or PEACHES in some form or fashion. Musicians contributing the 3BOPS: 🎙 Justin Bieber, 🎙 Tyler, The Creator, and 🎙 The Presidents of the United States of America

1. Justin Bieber, “Peaches”

Ft. Daniel Caesar & GIVĒON

💿 Justice • 🏷 Def Jam • 🗓 2021

Justin Bieber, Justice [📷: Def Jam]“I got my peaches out in Georgia (Oh, yeah, shit) / I get my weed from California (That’s that shit).” There’s nothing profound about either of those lyrics 🎙 Justin Bieber sings on his 📉no. 1 Hot 100 hit, 🎵 “Peaches” and yet, it’s absolutely and utterly infectious to the nth degree.  He continues on the golden chorus of this 💿 Justice gem (which I failed to properly acknowledge when reviewing the album), “I took my chick up to the North, yeah (Badass bitch) / I get my light right from the source, yeah (Yeah, that’s it).”  While it seems that Bieber has this fruit-loving number on lockdown all by himself, he enlists the services of Grammy winner 🎙 Daniel Caesar and Grammy nominee 🎙 GIVĒON.

Caesar and GIVĒON definitely owe Bieber you might say. Why? Both earn career-first no. 1 hits lending their awesome vocals to this joint.  This isn’t a game changing record, hence why initially, I didn’t provide heaps of praise, yet the more you listen you find yourself hypnotized and wooed.  In the context of Justice, Bieber loosens up (the profanity on the chill chorus), while still focused on the modus operandi, love. Both Caesar and GIVĒON devote their verses to their respective lovers ❤.

2. Tyler, The Creator, “Peach Fuzz”

“Peach Fuzz” • 🏷 Columbia • 📅 2018

Tyler, the Creator, Peach Fuzz [📷: Columbia]“You said keep it short, this is peach fuzz / Contact, couple months, then we out / … It’s nothing serious (I wanna be your man).” 🎙Tyler, the Creator took us all back to puberty in 2018 with 🎵 “Peach Fuzz”.  He keeps things brief, but definitely has some things to say. “Peach Fuzz” commences with an intro, before he drops the chorus where he compares a romantic fling/relationship to the short length of peach fuzz (as aforementioned).

Tyler follows the chorus with one verse, featuring several memorable lyrics.  “By the time we tie the knot up, Tyler, Tyler, he got caught up / Now they taking my ricotta, bunch of lawyers and ‘your honors’.” He also can’t resist indulging in oral sex: “Could you tell me how far in the future do you see us? You can make decisions while your lips graze on my peach fuzz.” TMI? Honestly, didn’t you see it ‘coming’? Hehe. Additionally, he makes a couple of shout outs to Stones Throw and 🎙 Prophet. “Peach Fuzz” is a remix of Prophet’s “Wanna Be Your Man” after all. Tyler sounds good with soulful R&B production backing him.

3. The Presidents of the United States of America, “Peaches”

💿 The Presidents of the United States of America • 🏷 PUSA Music • 📅 1995

The Presidents of the United States of America [📷: PUSA Music]“Movin’ to the country / I’m gonna eat a lot of peaches.” Well, maybe 🎙 The Presidents of the United States of America, maybe. Regardless, the alternative rock band’s hit single, 🎵 “Peaches” references the fruit numerous times. Take one listen, and you’ll be addicted, even 25 years after the song first arrived.  It certainly shouldn’t surprise you that the record was nominated for a 🏆 Grammy.

The lyrics are definitely entertaining to the nth degree.  We’re informed that “Peaches come from a can / They were put there by a man / In a factory downtown.” True.  Of course, if we honestly believe the band was being innocent, we’d be lying to ourselves. Front man 🎙Chris Ballew has stated the song was written about a crush.  Where the peaches come in, supposedly, is he wrote the song after sitting under a peach tree in her yard. “I took a little nap where the roots all twist / Squished a rotten peach in my fist,” he sings on the second verse, continuing, “And dreamed about you woman / I poked my finger down inside / Make a little room for an ant to hide / Nature’s candy in my hand or can or a pie.” Woo! Of course, the best part of the song beyond the ‘fingering’ is the outro:

“Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free.”
