Nick Jonas, Spaceman [📷: Island]Pop standout Nick Jonas gives us a “little slice of heaven” on “This is Heaven,” the second single from his 2021 solo album, Spaceman.

“At the gate / I’m coming inside, I know that it’s late / But I’m here, ‘cause your body my motivation.” Well, isn’t that just sexy AF 🎙 Nick Jonas.  Jonas releases his first solo album in five years on March 12, 2021, 💿 Spaceman.  He already set the tone for with 🎵 “Spaceman”, an overall successful, highly enjoyable promo single.  He follows up with another delightful number, 🎵 “This is Heaven”.  Perhaps Nick doesn’t change the face of pop, but once again, he drops a joint that’s definitely worth spinning.  Furthermore, the subject matter is relatable – love!

“This is Heaven”, like “Spaceman”, was written by Nick Jonas, 🎼✍ Greg Kurstin, and 🎼✍ Maureen “Mozella” McDonald. Once more, Kurstin works behind the boards.  Quite a gifted team, right? The record, expectedly, is sleekly produced, with keys, synths, and an absolutely infectious groove. Kurstin is a beast – we all know this! Focusing on Jonas, he serves up a respectable vocal performance, with his best moments arriving during the centerpiece, the chorus.

“This is Heaven
And I don't know how this could get much better (Yeah)
Than you and me, here right now
This is Heaven
And every time I touch you, it gets better
I'm on my knees, I can't stop now
This is Heaven.”

On the verses, he sings in lower and middle register.  He ascends higher on the chorus (aforementioned) where he proclaims the love to be ‘celestial,’ of course.  I also find the pre-chorus to be well assembled, leading into the chorus.

Final Thoughts 💭

So, just how heavenly is “This is Heaven?” Pretty heavenly overall.  Nick Jonas has a mature, grown and sexy sound, yet keeps things classy.  This Nick is definitely in a different place than he was on his previous two ‘adult’ albums – there’s an evolution (mainly a lack of f-bombs).  Ultimately, “This is Heaven” is a success.
