Halsey (hopeless fountain kingdom) leads a star-studded cast of artists with new albums. All Time Low, Bleachers, and others drop new LPs June 2, 2017. 

June 2, 2017, is the date that every music lover should have circled on their calendars.  For whatever reason, every artist on the planet decided that the first Friday in June would be the best date to release their new album.  Why? Who knows, but June 2 stuck.  Literally, there is something for everybody arriving on this date.  The biggest release arguably comes courtesy of Halsey with her sophomore album, hopeless fountain kingdom.  Still, the cupboard isn’t bare beyond the alternative superstar, with new albums from All Time Low, Bleachers, alt-J, Roger Waters, and Mali Music among others.  Get your money right for this week folks!

1. Halsey, hopeless fountain kingdom

In a big week for new music, Halsey leads the way with her sophomore album, hopeless fountain kingdom.  Halsey had a great run with her 2015 debut, Badlands, which debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard 200.  Hopeless fountain kingdom runs 16 songs deep in its deluxe version.  Three singles arrived prior to the album: “Now or Never,” “Eyes Closed,” and “Strangers.”  Hopeless fountain kingdom features three guests: Quavo (“Lie”), Lauren Jauregui (“Strangers”), and Cashmere Cat (“Hopeless”).

2. All Time Low, Last Young Renegade

All Time Low returns with its sixth studio album, Last Young Renegade.  Last Young Renegade materializes two years after Future Hearts, which debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200.  10 songs deep, four songs were issued prior to Last Young Renegade: “Last Young Renegade,” “Dirty Laundry,” “Nice2KnoU,” and “Life of the Party.”  Tegan and Sara are the sole featured guests.

3. Bleachers, Gone Now

Following a successful debut album (Strange Desire, 2014), Bleachers – aka Jack Antonoff – returns with his sophomore album, Gone Now.  Strange Desire spawned one of best songs of 2014, “I Wanna Get Better.” Gone Now is comprised of 12 tracks, with four songs arriving prior to its release: “Hate That You Know Me,” “Don’t Take the Money,” “Everybody Lost Somebody,” and “I Miss Those Days.”

4. alt-J, Relaxer

Infectious Music Ltd. / Atlantic 

English indie-rock band alt-J returns with their third studio album, Relaxer.  Relaxer arrives nearly three years after This Is All Yours, which was released in September 2014.  Relaxer is comprised of only eight songs. Three singles arrived ahead of the album: “3WW,” “In Cold Blood,” and “Adeline.”

5. Roger Waters, Is This the Life We Really Want?

Legendary Pink Floyd member Roger Waters returns with Is This the Life We Really Want?, his first solo album in 25 years! Is This the Life We Really Want? Follows Amused to Death, which was released in 1992.  Comprised of 12 songs, two singles were issued prior to the album’s release: “Déjà vu” and “The Last Refugee.”

6. Mali Music, The Transition of Mali

Gospel/R&B artist Mali Music returns with his second secular album, The Transition of Mali.  The Transition of Mali arrives three years after his first R&B project, Mali Is… Comprised of 12 songs, five singles arrived prior to the album: “Gonna Be Alright,” “Loved By You” (featuring Jazmine Sullivan), “Still,” “Contradiction” (featuring Jhené Aiko), and “My Life.”

7. Luke Combs, This One’s for You

27-year old country musician Luke Combs drops his debut album, This One’s for You.  This One’s for You follows his six-song EP of the same title, released in 2016.  Comprised of 12 songs, six arrived prior to the album: “Out There,” “Memoires Are Made Of,” “Beer Can,” “Hurricane,” “One Number Away,” and “This One’s for You.” 

8. Wheeler Walker Jr., Ol’ Wheeler

Pepperhill Music

Edgy comedic country musician Wheeler Walker Jr. returns with his sophomore album, Ol’ Wheeler. Ol Wheeler arrives a year after Redneck Shit, which arrived in February 2016.  Comprised of 11 crude songs, five songs arrived ahead of the album: “Pussy King,” “F*ckin’ Around” featuring Kacey Walker, “Puss in Boots,” “Finger up My Butt,” and “Summers in Kentucky.” Shew, what a track list!

9. Dan Auerbach, Waiting on a Song

Nonesuch 

Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach releases his sophomore solo album, Waiting on a Song. Waiting on a Song arrives eight years after Auerbach dropped his debut, Keep It Hid.  Comprised of 10 tracks, singles “Waiting on a Song,” “Shine on Me,” and “King of a One Horse Town” arrived ahead of the album.
