Minna Ora, "Sea" [πŸ“·: Puuma]Minna OraMinna Ora Delights With β€œSea”

'M

inna Ora captivates with her latest delivery,β€œSea”. It is an indie-folk track which delves into a unique space with the Finnish star rising to the occasion with might.

The overture is dominant, and it enthrals from the instant. Furthermore, a crushing stroke of the cymbals takes us deep into the mixture, and a myriad of sounds pop out before Minna’s vocal lead.

Vocally, Minna reminds me of a modern-day Kate Bush. I believe Kate is an influence on her music, and she takes a hint, but she does not commit plagiarism with a unique charm popping up the top. Also, I enjoy how the mix comes just that little bit different in an industry consumed by the same-old music. Furthermore, the guitar takes the focal position alongside Minna’s vocal, and between them, they shine in the night sky with agility.

Musically, the track is piercing and the power leaks from the mix like a leaking spout. However, I would enjoy a bridge along the way to give the structure a change. A new soundscape in this section could have added even more energy. However, the arrangement works and I doubt many will be able to criticise the direction Minna and her producer have taken.

Overall, ‘Sea‘ takes me far from the covid world. So much so, I find myself gravitating towards nature with Minna by my side every step of the way. Her ability to catapult us to another realm is impressive, and it submerges us with a feel-good optimism despite its bold lyricism.
