Mathew V, Catching Feelings | Track Review 🎵

Canadian pop musician Mathew V drops a must-hear, infectious pop single, “Catching Feelings,” that’ll make you reminisce back to your high school crush. 

“This year, I’m going big or going home – and I certainly have no intention on going home!” That is that awesome, ‘go-getter’ attitude expressed by Vancouver pop artist Mathew V about his love of being a musician and spreading and sharing “that with as many people as possible.” Mathew definitely kills it with his new single, “Catching Feelings,” which he envisions listeners recalling their high school crush.  Worth noting, Mathew, who’s previously been featured in the Billboard Pride column (Canadian Crooner Matthew V Debuts Drag-tastic ‘Broken’ Music Video: Watch), sees “Catching Feelings” appear on the mag’s monthly LGBTQ playlist, Queer Necessities, for April 2019.  Pretty sweet!

From the onset, the vibe of “Catching Feelings” is killer, in the most positive way possible.  What creates a killer vibe? Well, working alongside award-winning songwriter and producer Ryan Stewart definitely contributes to the vibe.  Stewart’s excellent production includes an infectious groove and sleek synths that make “Catching Feelings” ready-made for the dance floor.  Of course, it takes more than an excellent backdrop to make the record complete.  That’s where our rising star, Mathew V, drops absolutely sickening vocals.  He shows off sexy, playful lower register on the verses, while ascending higher and packing an even mightier punch on the hella catchy chorus. The production combined with ‘the pipes’ and incredibly fun songwriting makes “Catching Feelings” a can’t-miss pop gem for 2019.

Final Thoughts

“I knew I wanted something fun, cheeky, and playful with this track.” Well Mathew V, you definitely accomplished that with “Catching Feelings” which is nothing short of ‘B-O-P,’ bop! As aforementioned, Mathew and Ryan Stewart make an awesome pairing on “Catching Feelings” with stylish production, fabulous vocals, and entertaining lyrics.  What more can you ask for from a pop single?
