Mariah Carey, Rainbow [📷 : Columbia]For the 4th Thankful Song 🙏🎶, we highlight “Thank God I Found You” by Mariah Carey, Joe, and 98º.

“Thank God I found you / I was lost without you / My every wish and every dream / Somehow became reality.” Sing that, 🎙 Mariah Carey, SING THAT! Before we dig into this inspirational standout, let me remind you the premise of Thankful Songs 🙏🎶! On Thankful Songs 🙏🎶, we highlight songs in which the musician (or musicians) show gratitude about something or towards someone.  This idea came from the fact that in November, here in the United States of America, many Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.  So, what better way than to celebrate than select some awesome songs that exhibit gratitude? Our fourth entry comes from Carey, alongside R&B standout 🎙 Joe and boy band, 🎙 98º on 🎵 “Thank God I Found You,” which hails as the closing song from her 1999 album, 💿 Rainbow.

The premise of this ballad is really simple; Mariah Carey, Joe, and 98º are thankful for their respective relationships. Specifically, they ‘thank God’ for finding true love. On the first verse, Carey asserts, “I would give up everything / Before I’d separate myself from you,” going on to say, “I felt like dying / Until you saved my life.” Joe and 98º sing, on the second verse, “I will give you everything / There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do /… I’ll cherish every part of you.”  They all ‘bring it on home’ no the chorus, excerpted above and continued as follows:

“When you brought the sunlight
Completed my whole life
I’m overwhelmed with gratitude
‘Cause baby, I’m so thankful I found you.”

Deeper into the song is key change, which only amplifies the gratitude and superbness of “Thank God I Found You.”
