Maluma, "ADMV" [Photo Credit: Sony Music Latin]Columbian superstar Maluma delivers a thoughtful, well-rounded, stripped love-oriented ballad with “ADMV” (“Amor de Mi Vida”).

Maluma is one handsome man, and that’s not subjective folks – those are straight up F-A-C-T-S!  I mean, ask yourself the question, would Maluma himself deny he’s quite a fly guy? Okay, okay – this has NOTHING to do with his music talent.  Yes, the Columbia superstar is ‘muy caliente’, but he’s also a terrific musician.  He has a beautiful voice, something that he flaunts [as much as those dashing looks] on single, “ADMV” (“Amor de Mi Vida”).

Over the years, my love and appreciation for Latin music has only grown.  No, I’m not adept at Spanish in the least, but you don’t necessarily have to be to appreciate what your ears are being treated to. As aforementioned, Maluma sings angelically here, showing off an awesome vocal tone that many American singers would die to possess.  His tone perfectly complements the theme of the song, which is love, specifically “Love of my Life.”

“When our memory fails, and only photographs remain
I forget everything, except that you are mine…”

Spanish to English translations are approximate at best, which is the case with the aforementioned pre-chorus.  That said, the sentiment is clear.  The following chorus, in particular is quite thoughtful, imperfect translations aside:

“When the years weigh on us and the legs no longer walk
Our eyes close and the skin no longer stretches
When the only thing that matters is what we did in life
… You are the love of my life.”

Final Thoughts

Maluma – what a man, ha-ha.  Of course, on “ADMV,” he’s quite a man because of the thoughtful, loving lyrics. He’s backed by guitar accompaniment and honestly, that’s all he needs.  This is a simple, yet gorgeous ballad – one where you don’t need to be a Spanish expert.  Well-written, well-produced (Édgar Barrera “Edge”), and well-performed by my estimations.
