all 🎙 Machine Gun Kelly a rapper turned pop-punk singer… I think.  After earning newfound success on his 2020 album, 💿 Tickets to my Downfall, Kells continues in a melodic direction ahead of his 2022 album, 💿 mainstream sellout.  My first encounter with a song from mainstream sellout, 🎵 “emo girl” (featuring 🎙 WILLOW) merely had me shaking my head – NOT GOOD.  My second encounter, 🎵 “ay!”, featuring 🎙 Lil Wayne, is an improvement but not particularly deep.

At that point, Lil Wayne enters the picture, focusing on – you guessed it – his high.  “Why you got yo’ nose up? I smell like Guns N’ Roses.”  Honestly, that’s about the size of this two-minute-and-change number.  Compared to “emo girl,” it’s slightly more closely related to hip-hop but still a far cry from his days of slaughtering with those un-pitched rhymes.

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageSo, how does “ay!” stack up? It’s meh at best.  This is a better effort from Machine Gun Kelly than “emo girl” but it’s still nothing substantial.  Does it provide a temporary high? Yes, but the buzz doesn’t last long in the least.  It’s forgettable all said and done.  And let’s not forget, Lil Wayne’s own rock phase was questionable… save for 🎵 “Drop the World” – maybe 🎵 “Prom Queen”!
