There’s always someone on the rise, particularly in the hip-hop realm.  Who’s got next? Perhaps it’s a talented 25-year old rapper, singer, and producer by the name of Luke Christopher. Of his 2017 debut, TMRWFRVR, his label describes his vision as “genre-less and borderless.” Cool.  His brief record “Just Watch,” his fourth single of 2018, features some of that “-less” quality, definitely making him an intriguing artist to watch.

Naturally, with Christopher being a producer, the sound of “Just Watch” has massive appeal.  Set in a minor key, the synths are dark, and the beat is slick.  What more could you ask for from a hip-hop/rap number?  Beyond the music itself, Christopher has some bars as well.  On the first verse, he drops some memorable lines, including “Flirtin’ with the cougars at the Starbucks,” and showing his playboy prowess asserting, “I came here with Barbara / Then I left for Carla.” On the second verse, he remains confident, referencing his come-up, and unsurprisingly, sex. “Spend a day with me, f**k on top of the sheets / Got a couple mink rugs hope they soft on your knees.” It goes with rap territory of course. On the chorus, Christopher confirms that this record is all flex-fest:

“And just watch, it’s gettin’ hard not to f**k with us / N***a, just watch, you ain’t never getting’ boss with us…”

Final Thoughts

Will “Just Watch” change your life? Hard to say that about any song that’s merely 2:20 long.  That said, Luke Christopher showcases mad potential and should definitely be a name to keep on your radar.
