Lil Xan, Watch Me Fall [Photo Credit: Xanarchy Music]Lil Xan continues to totally annoy and irritate with his first brand-new single of 2019, “Watch Me Fall.” Supposedly ‘deeper,’ there’s plenty of room for growth.

Lil Xan has the distinction of earning the absolute worst album in 2018 with TOTAL XANARCHY.  As lazy and utterly abysmal as the album is, one has to question why the Latino rapper was signed in the first place – just keeping it 100.  The former boo of rising pop artist Noah Cyrus (sister to Miley of course), is back with his first new single of 2019 “Watch Me Fall.” Is he much improved from TOTAL XANARCHY? Well…

…No, of course not! As usual, Lil Xan relies on repetition as his best friend.  While I advocate repetition in regard to practicing dancing, music, or sports, it gets a bit blasé when it comes to a song.  Xan repeats the titular line more than enough times. Making it even worst is the godawful autotuned that accompanies his voice.  Every time he repeats “Don’t watch me fall,” it grows a bit more cringe-worthy and irritating AF.  The verses “don’t have much meat on the bones” either, as Xan pop-raps/sings vaguely rather than pouring out much detail.  He’s in a mood (“You left me broken, left on the side”), but regardless, he’s “Ready for war.” Okay…

Final Thoughts

Ugh… it’s hard for me to understand the draw to Lil Xan. His flow is so-so at best, and the way he says his words isn’t a pro either.  If Xan is going a bit deeper, reflecting on drug abuse and also reminiscing on his relationship with Cyrus as Genius suggests, give him some credit.  The problem is, there’s still much to be desired where lyrical substance and a complete, nuanced performance are concerned.  Would I personally revisit “Watch Me Fall?” Nope.  Once is more than enough.
