Alternative newcomer Lewis Capaldi showcases incredible potential and talent on single, “Fade.” He’s ‘got next.’

There’s a newbie everybody should be buzzing about – Lewis Capaldi.  An alternative musician, Capaldi proves why he could be ‘the next big thing’ on single, “Fade.” Simply put, the potential and the talent are through the roof on “Fade.”

“Fade” opens with moody piano serving as the accompaniment.  There’s a mysterious vibe, made even more enigmatic once Capaldi begins singing the verse. After maintaining incredible poise, on the chorus, he lets loose.  Here, we see the full scope of Capaldi’s instrument.  Vocally, he’s a beast, showcasing incredible grit, nuance, passion, emotion – the works. It’s easy to become envious of his tone; it’s incredibly distinct and ‘one of a kind.’

As “Fade” progresses, the production naturally fills out.  The short second verse gets a thudding kick and more assertive vocals from Capaldi.  On the choruses, save for one, Capaldi is all in.  He gets support from backing vocals and as aforementioned, eventually, the whole production shebang.  The best moment of “Fade” comes on the final chorus, intact with some salty language:

“…Guess I’m such a f*cking fool for the way that you caught me / Girl, you make my heart break more every day.”

Final Thoughts 

Ultimately, Lewis Capaldi shines like a beacon on “Fade.”  He has a terrific, ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ voice.  Achieving the grit, and ‘weathered’ tone that he does certainly isn’t a talent bestowed on every singer. “Fade” is well-written, featuring excellent pacing, and a magnificent, robust chorus that ‘brings it on home.’
