In the 93rd edition of Throwback Vibez (2026), we reflect on All Because of You” performed by Leroy Hutson.

“It gives me so much joy / To wake up in the morning / And find you by my side.”
Oh, the feels, Leroy Hutson (b. 1945) – the feels! Hutson was the lead singer of The Impressions from 1970 – 1973, replacing Curtis Mayfield (1942 – 1999). Hutson marked his third solo album.  It was released in 1975. All Because of Youis the opener. Hutson composed and produced “All Because of You.”  He arranged it alongside Rich Tufo.  The single failed to reach the pop charts but impacted the R&B (then black singles) charts.

The music is utterly sublime.  It begins with an electrifying drum groove; funky to the nth degree.  An awesome keyboard riff and robust bass line up the ante. The band is in the pocket.  Strings provide the cherry on top; the arrangement is magnificent. The winds also add even more seasoning.  Beyond exceptional music, Leroy Hutson gives a soulful vocal performance that oozes with – wait for it – LOVE! “Girl, I want ya, and I need ya / And I’ll do anything, don’t think I won’t,” he sings passionately in the first verse.  In the second verse, he crowns her: “You are the one who brightens all my days.” Beyond his amorous, sincere, and soulful vocals, Hutson is supported by strong background vocals. Returning to the lyrics, the centerpiece should come as no surprise – the chorus! It is varied, with the final iteration playing out something like this:

“Baby, it’s all because of you

That I can do the things I do

You give me such motivation

Such a beautiful relation

And it’s because of you

(Woohoo!)”

Running north of seven minutes, Leroy Hutson allows the instruments to shine.  This extended instrumental is nothing short of celestial – it’s utterly divine! An underrated soul gem, All Because of Youdeserves its flowers.  Surprisingly, more artists haven’t sampled this classic.  Good stuff!
