Independent singer-songwriter Leo Von Sol ‘brings the heat’ and the vibes on his sensual and summery indie pop single, “Heatwave.”
“Heatwave” commences with a warm, rhythmic, summery pad. Following the tone-setting intro, Leo Von Sol impresses with his cool, playful, smooth, rhythmic vocals. Besides his easy-going singing, he catches the ear with timely spoken-word ad-libs. The melodies are tuneful throughout the verses. The chorus is the crème de la crème:
“Caught up in your heatwave
Skin on skin
Sweat drippin’ down my back as you pull me in
Wanna feel your heatwave
Can’t break free
Caught up in your heatwave.”
Following the second verse, rather than hear the second chorus, we get a bridge (“No air, I’m floating / No ground when you hold me / Feel you in every part of me now”). This is surprising but keeps “Heatwave” engaging. Eventually, that second chorus arrives, as glorious as the first. In true Leo Von Sol fashion, there are plenty of spoken-word vocals near the end of this hot single. It’s not all seductive talking though (still, “Hands on me, don’t stop, don’t pause / Skin so hot, got things slippin’ off” is pretty hot). He concludes by singing, once more showing off those sweet pipes. All told, Leo Von Sol shines; rather, he ‘brings the heat’ on “Heatwave”. This is a summery song that is worth spinning well behind the hottest months!
