KYLE, Light of Mine [Photo Credit: Atlantic]Rising California rapper KYLE continues to make a case for himself on single “Playinwitme.” He’s assisted by Grammy-nominated R&B standout, Kehlani.

KYLE, who has one of the coolest Twitter handles (@SuperDuperKyle), has already proven he has the potential to be a force in the rap game.  The question for the fun, infectious rapper is WHEN in 2018 will he drop his ‘official,’ major-label debut album.  After compelling with single “To the Moon,” he ups the ante on “Playinwitme.” SuperDuperKyle enlists the services of Grammy-nominated R&B artist Kehlani.

From the start, “Playinwitme” has hit written all over it.  Set in a major key, the record burst with optimism and fittingly, playfulness.  KYLE is the ‘king of the castle,’ dominating the majority of his own record rightfully.  He starts things off right with a catchy, irresistible, melodic chorus, accompanied by piano.

“Girl, why are you playin’ with me?

Girl, who are you playin’ with?

You’ve been on that new stuff

I’ve been on the same shit

Girl, why are you playin’ with me?

I don’t got the time for that

Might need me a refund, haha

I’ma need that time back.”

The melodic, pop-rap driven approach of KYLE continues on his first verse, where the Cali rapper is on autopilot.  Following another edition of the chorus, Kehlani arrives in all her glory.  Picking up where the rapper left off, she impresses with her pipes, delivering her own set of memorable lyrics.

“Damn, why are you playin’ with me?
You don’t even like girls, ha
So I need you to tell me, baby
What you want just like the Spice Girls.”

She follows up singing the chorus, before KYLE returns for a brief post-chorus (“Girl, why are you playin’ with me?”).  The two join forces on the brief bridge, and the final chorus.

Final Thoughts

How does “Playinwitme” stack up? Ultimately, SuperDuperKyle and Kehlani make an awesome pair. This record is fire.
