Kingdumb Drops New Track ‘The One’

Contributed by George James

W

ith his latest track, ‘The One‘, Kingdumb proves he is a dominant force in the electronic-pop game. The producer has a history of coming through with the goods, and he does it again here.

Even though Swindon is his home base, he is making a reputation for himself further afield with this contribution. This song is about finding someone you love and concluding that they are the one for you. It emphasises a message that anybody can understand, regardless of culture, gender, or background. The vocals get straight to the point even though there is not much difference in the lyrics as it progresses.

This song is only just over three minutes long, yet it packs a lot of musical punch into that time. It is mainly composed of electronic elements, which should be no surprise to anyone familiar with his previous work. Despite this, he does experiment a bit, as evidenced by the numerous pop overtones that become more apparent as the music unfolds. Although it features a powerful bass line that propels us forward in the first part, it doesn’t come into its own until the first verse, when a female vocal harmony reverberates throughout the mix.

On this tune, Kingdumb does not provide any vocals by himself, which he has done on other tracks in the past; yet, the song does not feel like it is missing anything. The same can be said about the single’s b-side, ‘Hero‘ which also does not feature any vocal from Kingdumb. Nevertheless, this track is definitely better suited as an instrumental, a decision which Kingdumb obviously made in his studio.
