usic chart analysis, here we come! Scanning the Charts is exactly what it says it is.  We peruse – scan – through the Billboard Charts and pick out eye-catching happenings. Scanning the Charts isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, we list 9 observations from the Billboard 200 ,  and 8 observations from the Billboard Hot 100 , with King Von delivering a posthumous runner-up with What it Means to be King.

Billboard 200

At this point, doesn’t everybody realize that the Encanto soundtrack is firmly planted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200.  This marks the ninth week for the soundtrack in the penthouse.

Some posthumous albums put up respectable numbers. That’s the case for the late King Von who sees What it Means to be King launch at no. 2.

DaBaby and YoungBoy Never Broke Again debut at no. 10 with their joint effort, Better Than You.  

Earning a top-15 debut is Tom MacDonald and Adam Calhoun.  The Brave launches at no. 14.

Dolly Parton secures a top-40 debut with Run, Rose, Run.  It bows at no. 34.  Not bad for a veteran with nothing to prove at this point.

Elevation Worship bows at n. 80 with Lion.

Sabaton gets into the Billboard 200 action with The War to End All Wars at no. 87.

Sueco debuts at no. 122 with It Was Fun While it Lasted.

For Bands of Horses, Things are Great at no. 138… I guess…

Billboard Hot 100

In its 60^th charting week on the Billboard Hot 100, Glass Animals spends its second week at no. 1 with “Heat Waves”.

Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran earn the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100.  “Bam Bam” bows at no. 23.

the second highest debut on a quiet Billboard Hot 100 arrives courtesy of Russ featuring Ktlyn.  “Handsomer” launches at no. 60.

Gucci Mane debuts at no. 72 on the Hot 100 with “Publicity Stunt.”

King Von, who saw What it Means to be King debut at no. 2 on the Billboard 200, also impacts the Hot 100.  “War” bows at no. 73; “Facetime” at no. 92; “Straight to It” at no. 93…

Lil Shordie Scott ascends from no. 100 to no. 77 with “Rocking a Cardigan in Atlanta” in its second week.

Machine Gun Kelly, assisted by Lil Wayne, takes “Ay!” to no. 82.
