Kelly Clarkson, Me / Mine - Single [๐Ÿ“ท: Brent Faulkner/The Musical Hype; Kelly Clarkson / Atlantic; OpenClipart-Vectors, PIRO via Pixabay]Grammy-winning pop superstar Kelly Clarkson makes a capable return with โ€œmine,โ€ the emotional promo single from her tenth album, chemistry.

โ€œCanโ€™t believe I let you in, I canโ€™t believe I stayed / As long as I stayedโ€ฆโ€ Ah, those matters of the heart are on full display on ๐ŸŽต โ€œmineโ€.ย  โ€œMineโ€ marks the promo single from ๐Ÿ’ฟ chemistry, the tenth album by ๐Ÿ† Grammy-winning pop superstar (and talk show host), ๐ŸŽ™ Kelly Clarkson. On โ€œmine,โ€ Clarkson reflects post-relationship, seeking to heal from the pain (โ€œAnd now I second guess my thoughts every step I take / Iโ€™m losinโ€™ hope in love and Iโ€™ve lost all in faithโ€).ย  She penned this intriguing record alongside ๐ŸŽผ โœ ๐ŸŽ› Erick Serna, and Jesse Shatkin who also produce.

Kelly Clarkson, Chemistry [๐Ÿ“ท: Atlantic]

โ€œMineโ€ commences abruptly without an intro โ€“ Kelly gets right into it. As always, her vocals are absolutely radiant.ย  Furthermore, Clarkson has a tuneful melody to work with. The centerpiece is undoubtedly the powerful chorus, which features a fabulous vocal arrangement and production.ย  Notably, during the chorus, we get a clever reference to Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind:

โ€œGo ahead and break my heart, thatโ€™s fine (So unkind)

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (Oh, love is blind)

Why am I missinโ€™ you tonight? (Was it all a lie?)

Someoneโ€™s gonna show you how a heart can be used

Like you did mine.โ€

Epic! Expectedly, the second verse features more production โ€“ an intentionally more developed sound.ย  Perhaps more interesting is the bridge, which features a unique change of pace and unexpected increase in tempo.ย  Clarkson asserts, โ€œAnd you keep talkinโ€™, itโ€™ll come back, karma / Is the truth, I donโ€™t make you look bad, you do, darlinโ€™ / Sabotage, your choice of art / Who the hell do you think you are.โ€ Ooh-wee!

Final Thoughts ๐Ÿ’ญ

drowning in tearsThree words: Kelly is back! ย She gets emotional on ๐ŸŽต โ€œmineโ€ as she reflects on divorce and moves forward.ย  Itโ€™s authentic, heartfelt, and quite enjoyable.ย  Lots to heart about this record, period.
