Grammy-winning pop superstar Kelly Clarkson makes a capable return with โmine,โ the emotional promo single from her tenth album, chemistry.
โCanโt believe I let you in, I canโt believe I stayed / As long as I stayedโฆโ Ah, those matters of the heart are on full display on ๐ต โmineโ.ย โMineโ marks the promo single from ๐ฟ chemistry, the tenth album by ๐ Grammy-winning pop superstar (and talk show host), ๐ Kelly Clarkson. On โmine,โ Clarkson reflects post-relationship, seeking to heal from the pain (โAnd now I second guess my thoughts every step I take / Iโm losinโ hope in love and Iโve lost all in faithโ).ย She penned this intriguing record alongside ๐ผ โ ๐ Erick Serna, and Jesse Shatkin who also produce.
โMineโ commences abruptly without an intro โ Kelly gets right into it. As always, her vocals are absolutely radiant.ย Furthermore, Clarkson has a tuneful melody to work with. The centerpiece is undoubtedly the powerful chorus, which features a fabulous vocal arrangement and production.ย Notably, during the chorus, we get a clever reference to Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind:
โGo ahead and break my heart, thatโs fine (So unkind)
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (Oh, love is blind)
Why am I missinโ you tonight? (Was it all a lie?)
Someoneโs gonna show you how a heart can be used
Like you did mine.โ
Epic! Expectedly, the second verse features more production โ an intentionally more developed sound.ย Perhaps more interesting is the bridge, which features a unique change of pace and unexpected increase in tempo.ย Clarkson asserts, โAnd you keep talkinโ, itโll come back, karma / Is the truth, I donโt make you look bad, you do, darlinโ / Sabotage, your choice of art / Who the hell do you think you are.โ Ooh-wee!
Final Thoughts ๐ญ
Three words: Kelly is back! ย She gets emotional on ๐ต โmineโ as she reflects on divorce and moves forward.ย Itโs authentic, heartfelt, and quite enjoyable.ย Lots to heart about this record, period.

[…] โBuried myself into somebody else / Shout out some parts of me, did it so casually.โ Oh, snap ๐ซฐ! ๐ Kelly Clarkson is being honest, open, and incredibly vulnerable on ๐ต โmeโ. โMeโ marks the second single from ๐ฟ chemistry, the tenth studio album by the ๐ Grammy-winning, pop superstar.ย Clarkson penned โmeโ with ๐ผ โ GAYLE and Josh Ronen, while ๐ Jason Halbert and Jesse Shatkin produce.ย The resulting single is a nice follow-up to Clarksonโs first single from chemistry, ๐ต โmineโ.
