Keith Pringle, Call Him Up | Music Lifts

In the 28^th edition of Music Lifts (2026), we’re uplifted by Minister Keith Pringle and The Pentecostal Community Choir performing “Call Him Up.”

Welcome to Music Lifts, featuring songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the 28^th edition of Music Lifts (2026), we highlight “Call Him Up” as performed by Minister Keith Pringle and The Pentecostal Community Choir.

OH, YES 🙌! Amen 🙏! Hallelujah 👏! Him with a capital H for sure 🙌! Minister Keith Pringle (b. 1952) and The Pentecostal Community Choir got their praise on something fierce with “Call Him Up”. The Him being called up? J-E-S-U-S! “Call Him Up” is the second track from their album, True Victory, released in 1980. Although this is an oldie (older than yours truly by a few years), this high-flying performance never grows old.

“Call Him Up” cooks from the get-go. It thrives on its traditional, electrifying gospel sound. If you’ve been part of the black church experience, the minute this one kicks off, it sounds CHURCHY! The band and choir are locked in.  Starting with the music, the drums are pummeling, sounding like they hit you right in the chest. The bass player is fully dialed in.  The bass sounds robust as it anchors the low end, while the lines are agile and athletic 💪.  Some of those riffs are quite impressive and would be perfectly at home on a funk record! Of course, the keys ate and left no crumbs – a combo of bright piano and intense, swirling organ.  The choir has incredible accompaniment to fuel their fire. Whether the fuel was needed or not, they sound marvelous – anointed to the nth degree.

Like the instrumentalists, the singers are consistently assertive and energetic.  You can tell they feel the spirit and are happy to give all the praise and honor to God.  Simply put, “If you confess the Lord, call Him up! /… If you believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, / Call Him up and tell Him what you want!”  The Pentecostal Community Choir acknowledges mistakes made, as well as troubles that come our way, but still, you know what to do: “CALL HIM UP AND TELL HIM WHAT YOU WANT!”  Beyond the core song, the vamping section (excerpted earlier on “Can’t stop praising His name”) marks another feel-good, triumphant moment.  It’s the emphasis on P-R-A-I-S-E!  All told, Minister Keith Pringle and The Pentecostal Community Choir get down on “Call Him Up”. This is uplifting gospel at its finest!
