Jxckson & Sevenths, “Ready 4 Love? (Sevenths Remix)” | Track Review

Austin-based queer pop artist Jxckson links up with English music producer Sevenths for an incredible remix of his 2020 single, “Ready for Love?”

rap me up, wrap me up / Wrap me up in your love / Hold me tight, hold me tight / Hold me tight in those arms / I’m ready for you / Aren’t you ready for me?” Why yes, 🎙 Jxckson, of course 😍 😍 😍! The handsome, talented queer pop artist based in Austin, actually released 🎵 “Ready for Love?” as a single in 2020.  It would reappear on his 2021 album, 💿 Paradox, as the second track.  Now, more than a year later, Jxckson flirts with us again (😜) on 🎵 “Ready 4 Love? (Sevenths Remix)”.  As parenthesized, England music producer, 🎙 🎛  Sevenths, provides some marvelous contrast on this remixed version.

Don’t get it twisted folks, my boy, Jxckson, did the dayum thing on the original in 2020, like, total slay!  Honestly, listening and reading the lyrics, I’m trying to understand why the person he addressed in the song had any doubts about “calling it love, romance,” sigh.  Anyways, remixes, of course, have the ability to enhance and provide an alternate take that sometimes trumps the original.  Where the 2020 single was chill with a bit of a bossa nova groove and vibe, Sevenths ‘electrifies’ things, you might say.  His colorful palette of sounds – synths, busier grooves, and imaginative ideas – make this remix club ready.  Honestly, even if you don’t dance, you might dance along with this one.  Additionally, we get some cool vocal effects from Jxckson, including that distinct opening vocoder melisma and some awesome effects that recur.  The core of this gem remains – it just gets a creative makeover!

Jxckson and Sevenths? Match made in heaven, baby! Sevenths made sure that Jxckson had a danceable bop for the clubs in summer 2022.  Now, if only we can secure that hottie for cuffing season! Okay, I jest, but in all seriousness, I’m so glad I happened upon Jxckson on the LGBTQ Music Chart list on Spotify. More folks need to show this talent some love – that boi good!
