Justin Timberlake, Man of the Woods | Album Preview
February 2, 2018 is a big day for both Justin Timberlake and the music industry in general. It marks the arrival of ‘Man of the Woods,’ the highly-anticipated fifth studio album by Timberlake.
Album Preview examines ‘what we know so far’ about an upcoming album, including ‘teaser tracks’ released in advance of the project.
What We Know So Far
“I think the album has a wide range of sonics to it, but, I guess I would describe it as modern Americana with 808s.” Justin Timberlake lays claim to arguably the most highly anticipated album of February, Man of the Woods. Man of the Woods served as the highlight of the February edition of The Musical Hype’s Monthly Music Shopping List. As aforementioned, Timberlake describes Man of the Woods as a modern Americana album.
While promo singles “Filthy” and “Supplies” don’t feel Americana or country in the least, final advance single “Say Something,” featuring Chris Stapleton, fits the bill. The follow-up to The 20/20 Experience (2013) is comprised of 16 tracks. In addition to a guest appearance by Stapleton, Alicia Keys guests on the album’s eighth song, “Morning Light.”
Below are links to the reviews of the three singles, in chronological order of their release prior to the arrival of Man of the Woods.
Justin Timberlake returns after a four-year hiatus with “Filthy,” the groovy, sleek promo single from his fifth studio album, ‘Man of the Woods.’
Following unique promo single “Filthy,” Justin Timberlake returns with “Supplies,” the second single issued ahead of his fifth studio album, ‘Man of the Woods.’
In advance of fifth LP ‘Man of the Woods,’ Justin Timberlake saves his best single – “Say Something,” featuring Chris Stapleton – for last.
Early indications suggest that Man of the Woods should be an interesting project from Timberlake. Whether interesting is good or not, only time will tell.
