In the 46th edition of Throwback Vibez (2026), we recollect and reflect on “It’s All About You” performed by Johnny “Guitar” Watson.
“It’s All About You” cooks from the jump. The laid-back, funky groove and vibrant musical backdrop oozes with soul. The stunning arrangement includes the band, as well as ultra-sophisticated orchestrations: warm, sometimes biting winds and dramatic, lush strings. Expectedly, there are superb guitar riffs, courtesy of Johnny “Guitar” Watson himself. The fat bass line, against that irresistible groove, further accentuates the musical excellence. Beyond the incredible instrumental moments, Johnny “Guitar” Watson brings it on vocals. He is incredibly expressive – you buy what he’s selling. And baby, undoubtedly, it’s all about you! The chorus, excerpted earlier, led by the titular lyric, is the section to beat. Soul group Maxayn is also credited with contributing vocals. The music speaks for itself on “It’s All About You”, which exemplifies an underrated soul gem filled with top-notch musicianship.
