Jennifer Porter, Sun Come And Shine | Album Review

Jennifer Porter, a blues-rock sensation from Maine, has given the music world a gem with her latest album, ‘Sun Come And Shine‘. Jennifer demonstrates her prowess like never before, leaving us gripped to every note, and she delivers a little something for everyone, with each tune standing out in its own right.

The album begins with the album’s lead hit, ‘Sun Come And Shine‘. Given that it is also the album’s title, it is clear that it will be a treasure before hearing it, and it does not mislead. Jennifer also delights the lugs with an angelic-toned vocal performance. She has many vocal skills up her sleeve. Also, her true enormity as a lead vocalist emerges as the record progresses.

The music in the opener sets the tone for the rest of the album, as each track builds in intensity; giving us time to catch our breath with gentle songs like ‘Show Me Your Love,’ which comes after the opener. A soulful guitar leads the way forward, while a slow shuffle pace complements a calming piano composition.

‘Satin Shoes‘ brings blues-rock to the vanguard, and despite its languid tempo, it flows with zeal. Midway through the song, ‘Stop Your Talkin‘, a funky bluesy beat gets the hips jiving, and the movement is tough to resist. Jennifer also contributes to the ethereal atmosphere with a vocal that rises and lowers before gently bringing us back to earth in the ending stanza.

On ‘Bitter New York Night,’ the organ comes to life, and the ballad’s trajectory transports us away from the world to a land where only peace and tranquilly reign. Before the album concludes with ‘I’ll Be Here,’ ‘Something On Your Mind‘ makes its way deep into the memory. Jennifer becomes overly nostalgic at this point, almost causing a tear to well up in our eye.
