nnuendo? More like full-on sexual vibes! Welcome to After Dark 🕛 🌃, a column featuring songs that are best suited for nighttime, specifically, the bedroom.  Many of the records featured here raise eyebrows, as well as the temperature! These After Dark tunes focus on the universal three-letter word:  SEX. The dark records gracing After Dark are old and new alike, with all genres of music welcome.  On the 7th edition of After Dark (2022), we explore the naughty, risqué, & sexual vibes behind, 🎵 “On It” by 🎙 Jazmine Sullivan featuring 🎙 Ari Lennox.

Theme & Lyrics

Bitmoji ImageI’ve written about 🎵 “On It”, a standout from the 🏆 Grammy-nominated, 🎙 Jazmine Sullivan 💿 Heaux Tales, previously (see the Also appears on 🔽 near the end).  That said, I guess I can’t get enough of this edgy contemporary R&B joint.  Even though the blurbs about “On It” have appeared elsewhere, how could I NOT included it in After Dark 🕛 🌃? Honestly, this is that After Dark 🕛 🌃 sugar honey iced tea we live for! On “On It,” Sullivan enlists fellow R&B artist 🎙 Ari Lennox for the assist.  The duet encompasses ample reference to the D – the joystick if you will!

“‘Cause I heard some freaky shit ‘bout you

So let me see what that mouth do.”

Bitmoji ImageWoo, Jazmine, gurlll! Now that’s some steamy, sexed-up After Dark 🕛 🌃 sugar honey iced tea fo’ sho!  The double entendre of “On It” is everything to be honest .  “Let me sit on it, yeah / I want you to prove it,” both ladies sing on the chorus, adding, “Baby come on and prove / Why I should move / I want to spit on it.” Jesus! The power of the peen is sufficiently explored to say the least. Prior to Sullivan’s ‘mouth-watering’ second verse, Lennox serves up her own share of lust: “Curves got you drivin’ reckless / Take this water and hydrate, bitch.” Da-yum! Expectedly, size comes into play (“Lil bowlegged hood nigga with the nine-inch”), in addition to the mouth and those ‘waves.’

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageAs previously stated, regarding 🎵 “On It”, it’s risqué, period. Would I label it raunchy? Probably, but that’s commonplace in the music of the 2020s, right? A positive takeaway for those ready to call this joint excessively filthy is that it’s a prime example of women liberating and unleashing their sexual side.  Hey, if the guys can do it, why can’t the girls?  “Relax, it’s just sex.”
