“I stack that shit up ‘til it’s top of the attic / New factory watch, I got ice in the Patek.”
Ooh-wee! Those Pateks are not cheap – definitely way out of my budget! Confident as fuck, Grammy-nominated rapper Gunna (Sergio Kitchens) flexes hard on his brief single, “Pop It.” He and Darnell Ramon Carr Jr. wrote it. Kizzy produced it.

“Pop It” has plenty of pros. It begins with the epic, brassy production. It’s not all brass, though – there are some fluty sounds, too. Ultimately, it is a fitting backdrop for the rapper.  A hard-hitting, kick-ass beat provides a firm foundation.  As referenced earlier, Gunna brings ample swagger. He also brings a compelling cadence and flow. He is potent without breaking a sweat – this is easy work for him! “Finessing, fluorescence (Finessing) / My presence’s a present (Present),” he raps in the first verse, and continues, “The P for perfecting, my roof havin’ stars, I push with aggression (I push with aggression).” Woo! The chorus ‘pops,’ of course!

“Uh, pop it again (Pop it)

Widebody Benz (Widebody Benz)

Racks by the ten (Racks)

Wun for the win (Wun for the win)

Polish your mans (Polish)

More rubber bands (More rubber bands)

Pop it.”

Does he say anything truly EPIC? No, but the flex continues, and that’s worth something!  “Pop It” isn’t brand-new for Gunna.  Innovative rap, it’s not. BUT it’s enjoyable, pleasant, and ultimately, inoffensive.  Worth a listen? Yes, it’s a vibe.
