Getting to Know... Twin Voids: Interview #89 [Photo Credits: Twin Voids, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]For the 89th interview in the Getting to Know… series, guitarist Nathan Bidwell provides the scoop on his band, Twin Void.

“Ithink we bring a type of attitude that most bands don’t have anymore, and our aesthetic is very unique and fun.” Straight out of the mouth of Nathan Bidwell, the guitarist for Twin Void, the band that graces the 89th interview on The Musical Hype. In addition to Bidwell, who is kind enough to answer our questions, Wyatt Farnsworth is also a member of the band, handling the drums. According to Bidwell, when the band began to “gain steam and people really enjoyed us,” they “started taking this project more and more seriously.” Since I’m already giving parts of the interview away, there’s no need for further introduction.  Let’s get right into Getting to Know… Twin Void: Interview #89

Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with Twin Void, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Nathan Bidwell: I think we bring a type of attitude that most bands don’t have anymore, and our aesthetic is very unique and fun.

Sounds good! Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Twin Void form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

Bidwell: Me and Wyatt formed Twin Void to kinda do something different, we’ve always played in heavy bands and we wanted to branch off and have some clean vocals, catchy choruses and some tasty licks.

Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Bidwell: When we first started, we started just to have fun and jam, but then as we started playing shows. We started to gain steam and people really enjoyed us, so we eventually started taking this project more and more seriously.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Bidwell: A roundup of our favorite musicians and bands would probably have to be bands like Black Flag, Bad Brains, Black Sabbath, all those old 70s bands plus a lot of outlaw country artists like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck, and David Allan Coe.

Twin Void [Photo Credit: Twin Void]Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

Bidwell: The one that comes to mind was actually our last real show before COVID-19, and it was a really important night cause we knew it was gonna be packed, we were filming a live music video which is the video for “Green Valley” but mid-way through our set I totally blew my string (Coincidentally on that song) and after that, I felt so embarrassed but we still held on and finished our set, probably will never forget that set.

Wow! Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Bidwell: Right now, we have a song in our set called “Hellcat” and we had to work on that song for probably a couple months but once we finally finished it, it turned out so badass. And plus, the lyrics have a special place in my heart as well.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Bidwell: Well if I’m not playing heavy music, I love playing country guitar, I love cooking, and I also run a blog about stoner rock called Mammoth Tongue Reviews.

Closing this thing out, what is Twin Void currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Bidwell: Well we have our full length written, but for the time being you guys can check out our newest EP called Electric Drone Wasp.

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
