Getting to Know… Run Brother Run: Interview No. 212 🎤 [📷: Run Brother Run, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Trudi Knight]For our 212th interview on The Musical Hype, we gain insight on Run Brother Run, the musical brainchild of guitarist, Stesh.

“R

un Brother Run is a true combination of genres, and people have heard many influences in the music.” Sounds eclectic, 🎙️ Stesh, and we love eclectic! Stesh, of course, is the brains behind 🎙️ Run Brother Run, which “started in 2020 when the world stood still or got locked away at home as a way to pass time and not go insane.” Fair enough! The brainchild goes on to say, “Once I stated writing I realized that I had some great ideas and songs and now looking towards getting a full band together.” Intriguing! As always, RBR gives us insight into their musical craft – influences, current, and future endeavors. So, without further ado, we proudly unleash Getting to Know… Run Brother Run: Interview 212!

Run Brother Run [📷: Run Brother Run]Starting things off, for those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 Run Brother Run is a true combination of genres, and people have heard many influences in the music. I have been told it sounds like bands like Rancid, Used, Gaslight Anthem, Thrice, Scott Sorry, Dinosaur Jr, Sound Garden, Blink, and more. All I can say is the songs are rocking and full of groove but heavy parts and will make you move and dance even if no one is watching

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your RBR form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

🎤 RBR started in 2020 when the world stood still or got locked away at home as a way to pass time and not go insane. I started writing songs that I always wanted without any influence of other people. Once I stated writing I realized that I had some great ideas and songs and now looking towards getting a full band together.

Run Brother Run [📷: Trudi Knight]Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 To play live, tour and get 💿 EP vol 2 out.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Some of my biggest influences are Rise Against, Thrice, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Anti Flag, and some smaller bands like tender defender, iron chic, beatsteaks (no little in Germany lol).

Run Brother Run [📷: Trudi Knight]Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 During a performance I have been known to go a bit mental on stage and throw myself around, jump etc. Well one time I decided to actually jump into the audience who were going a bit mental out front and landed directly on the side of my foot while coming down, next I went down like a brick. Was still playing the song while lying on my back on the floor and in a significant amount of pain. After the song I got helped back up only to realize I had actually broken my foot. Still finished the show after a guy had got me a Double Jack for medicinal purposes. Actually, come to think of it, I have broken a few bones on stage including finger and shin. The power of Jack compels me!

Run Brother Run [📷: Trudi Knight]Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 Best song I have recorded is probably the debut ep, the songs are really special to me. Haven’t played them live yet. But apart from that, maybe an old song called 🎵 “21 or bust” always has big place in my heart for both playing live and recorded.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Besides being the craziest musician who breaks bones and plays on, I’m quite boring I like to read, watch movies, and spend time with my family. I’m rather good at funny voices though even though people might disagree with my Scottish accent (I can get away with it as I’m half Scottish lol).

In closing, what are you currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 I’m working on 💿 EP VOL 2 with a few people to add parts when ready and its heavier and faster the 💿VOL 1.

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
