“We play alternative metal, incorporating elements of industrial, rock, horror, and oozing charisma.” Interesting, 🎙 Novacrow.  Please, expound upon your craft! “[We’ve] definitely gained a reputation for going WILD every single time. [We] are huge attention seekers who LOVE to put on a hell of a show.” Ooh-wee sounds exciting! The Liverpool alternative metal collective gives us the inside scoop on their genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado or spoilers, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… Novacrow: Interview No. 298!

For those who may not be familiar with Novacrow, what would you say makes you distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 We play alternative metal, incorporating elements of industrial, rock, horror, and oozing charisma. We strive to be as entertaining as possible live and have definitely gained a reputation for going WILD every single time. Each of us are huge attention seekers who LOVE to put on a hell of a show. We also don’t take ourselves too seriously and have a lot of fun!

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your Novacrow form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

🎤 The band has massively evolved over time. It started off as a fun casual project and over the years, we’ve ended up playing tons of shows to bigger and bigger audiences. Our sound has grown, and we’ve become more ambitious with our music. It started out as a fun hobby and a love of performing together and it’s been such a fun journey so far.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 Our early visions were probably, ‘cool, this is fun, let’s see what happens.’ Now we want total world domination obviously. We want to keep making delicious music and making fools out of ourselves for as long as possible.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Between us, we have a wide range of influences. Particularly in our new album, I’d say some of the biggest influences have been Type O Negative, Rob Zombie, Celldweller, Igorrr – but also a big range of other sources. 🎵 “Medusa” is like an undead cabaret song, whilst 🎵 “Play My Game” is heavily video game influenced. Our attitude tends to be ‘ooo,  I like what they’ve done there, let’s try adding in something similar’ and seeing if it works. We’re very happy to experiment.

NovacrowAh, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 We had a drummer dislocate his shoulder whilst doing a handstand in a swimming pool the day before we played Winter Days of Metal in Slovenia. We’ve done a show where all of the backing tracks kept glitching out and we turned a whole song into a game of musical statues.  We’ve somehow managed to not seriously injure ourselves mid-set yet, despite leaping from great heights, climbing up various things, and probably deserving it.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 Kitty: After two years of lockdown, it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to finish a new album and finally getting to play the tracks live. For me, 🎵 “Hollow Armour” is a very close personal song and it’s been so wonderful having it progress from early demos into a full finished track. The recording was tough, but so worth it. I also love playing 🎵 “ “Medusa” and 🎵 “Play My Game” from the new album live, both have a lot of dramatic lyrics, which gives me plenty of excuses to give massively over-the-top performances. But 🎵 “Fat Frog”, 🎵 “Criminal Mastermind”,  and 🎵 “Fever Swamp” have always been a treat to play live.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Between all of us, we can make a near-perfect impression of every single character in Shrek.

Closing out, what is Novacrow currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 We have a brand-new album, 💿 LOOK AT ME NOW,  coming out in September, which is available to pre-order now at www.novacrowofficial.com, alongside a load of new merch. We are extremely proud of this album and cannot wait to share it with the world!

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
