Getting to Know... Major Moment [Photo Credits: Major Moment, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]On the 68th interview on The Musical Hype, we get the scoop on the intriguing Boston-based alternative rock band, Major Moment.

“[We are] a modern rock band with heavy guitar riffs, intriguing vocal melodies, meaningful lyrics and cool electronic elements!” Sounds pretty flippin’ awesome, if I do say so myself! Gracing the 68th interview in the Getting to Know… series on The Musical Hype, is alternative rock band Major Moment.  What comprises of this ‘major moment’ or rather, who are they? Well the Boston-based band is comprised of Andrey Borzykin (vocals, synth) and Sasha Razumova (vocal, keys), both born in Russia, Eddie Thurmon (lead guitar), Daniel Interrante (rhythm guitar), and Xanon Xicay (drums).  As is always the case, Major Moment invites us into their world, sharing some awesome insight about their background and beginnings, their music, and their artistic goals and visions.  Without further ado, here is Getting to Know… Major Moment: Interview #68.

Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with MAJOR MOMENT, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Major Moment: That’s the right attitude!! Hey everyone who doesn’t know us, we are Major Moment, a modern rock band with heavy guitar riffs, intriguing vocal melodies, meaningful lyrics and cool electronic elements! We have band members from all over the world, both vocalists are from different parts of Russia, two American guitarists and a drummer from Guatemala. With our international influences we stand out and make music that can touch anyone on this planet! …or maybe from other planets too, who knows! 😂🤘🏽🔥

Major Moment [Photo Credit: Major Moment]AWESOME! Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your MAJOR MOMENT form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

Major Moment: Our story is juicy, indeed. Before the band even appeared on the horizon, Andrey and Sasha (vocals / keys / songwriting) met each other for the first time in Boston, when Sasha was traveling around the US with her friend, who was also Andrey’s online buddy. They all were fans of the same band (guess which band that was, lol), so music was the true point of connection. Years later, Andrey and Sasha are now married. They both shared the same passion for music, but initially, Andrey joined the band that was looking for a lead vocalist alone.

After a couple of rehearsals and a good number of demos accumulated, they had a great last-minute opportunity for a gig that they didn’t want to pass on, even though they felt not quite ready to perform yet… So, Sasha was invited as a special guest to help on backing vocals. The next day when she attended a rehearsal to discuss how it went, everyone already accepted her as a part of the band. As time went by, we realized that some of the band members don’t share the same aspirations and goals as Andrey and Sasha did, so the lineup had to change a few times, but only to grow better and stronger!

Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Major Moment: Honestly, our vision and main goals that we had right from the very beginning did not change at all. We believe our music has the potential to become big, become the music everyone is familiar with! We are here to conquer the woooorld! 😎🤘🏽

Right On! Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of MAJOR MOMENT’S biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Major Moment: Well, in some way, the fact that we even have Major Moment, we owe that to Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. His death was something no one has expected… and being his life-long fans, we were devastated, and couldn’t help but to think that our own lives can end at any moment as well… so we should do what matters to us. Right now! So, Andrey wrote the song, which later became our first single, “Before It’s Too Late”, and it all went on from there. On the other hand, Chester is a tremendously talented and skilled vocalist, and a great performer, so he’s the one we’re learning from to this day.

Other influences, that we would like to mention are Bring Me The Horizon with their Sempiternal, That’s The Spirit,  and the creativity of the amo album,Nine Inch Nails with their raw vocals and nasty electronic layers, Cold with its diversity of sound, and Keane with their soulful melodies and beautiful harmonies!

Major Moment [Photo Credit: Major Moment]Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.

Major Moment: So, one time at the show a guy jumped on stage, ripped his shirt, screaming “WHOA!!! This is the best music I’ve ever heard in my entire life”, then jumped off the stage and planked face down! Later we found out that was Marilyn Manson…just kidding. That’s what happens when you tell me to get creative… but that would be fun!

Ha-ha! Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Major Moment: Oh shit! That’s a tough one. Well, as of right now we get the best feedback to our song “Living Your Life Like This”, which translates into high-energy live performances and hundreds of thousands of streams from all over the world.

I guess, we really nailed the state of the world we live in and were able to put it together in a song, that rocks! We got so many messages like “yes, this is exactly what is happening in my country”, or like “that gives me hope to fight against coronavirus.” We love getting comments and messages from people and always personally reply to every single one! This connection means everything to us.

Major Moment [Photo Credit: Major Moment]Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Major Moment: We always loved watching “behind the scenes” content about our favorite artists, so we think many of our fans would love seeing this as well! We post some of it on our social media pages, but the most interesting content is shared with our email subscribers. If you’re interested, you can sign up on our website to the “Backstage Club” and uncover pictures, videos from the studio, unreleased design ideas, demos, and many more. 🤘🏽

Secret talents? Sure! Let’s talk about Sasha, she is a girl of many talents. Besides singing in Major Moment, she used to be a professional tennis player, ranking in top 600 in the world, and she also bakes state of the art cakes and chocolates, that are second to none. Check them out at https://instagram.com/sweetheart.store.

Closing things out, what is MAJOR MOMENT currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Major Moment: Buckle up! 4 new songs are coming your way! Those are the best songs, in our opinion, that we wrote to date. This is something we’ve never done before, and super-excited to share with the world! The first single is just around the corner and will blow your mind! We’re also working on a music video for this song, which we are co-directing with Revelry Studios, the same team we worked with for our previous music video of “May Leave Scars.” We promise, you don’t wanna miss that!

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

Major Moment: Thank you so much for having us! Stay safe and healthy during this crazy time! Hope it won’t take long until we’re back to playing shows and meeting you in person in your city! 🙌
