Getting to Know... Keep This Up [📷: Keep This Up, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]On our 181st interview in our ever growing Getting to Know… series, we get the scoop from Peterborough UK pop punk band, Keep This Up.

Sometimes, a musician or band don’t require a lengthy description to successfully characterize themselves.  That’s the case with 🎙 Keep This Up who provide a simple yet efficient answer to the first question in this interview (What makes your band unique or distinct?): “We offer that fun and energetic 2000’s style pop punk to everyone.” Speaks for itself, right? Right! The pop punk trio from Peterborough UK is comprised of 🎙 Chris (guitar vocals), 🎙 Mike (guitar, vocals), and 🎙 Daniel (drums, bass, vocals).  Much like their first answer, Keep This Up keeps things short and sweet, yet totally allure us with their forthcoming endeavors – particularly post-pandemic! So, without further fanfare, we proudly present 🎤 Getting to Know… Keep This Up: Interview No. 181!

Starting things off, for those who may not be familiar with Keep This Up, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 So, we’re Keep This Up, a pop punk band from Peterborough UK. We offer that fun and energetic 2000’s style pop punk to everyone.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Keep This Up form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

🎤 The band was formed in 2019 when Chris and the other guitarist at the time met Dan, we were so impressed with his playing and the fact his drum kit was slotted perfectly into the back of a Ford KA. In 2020, Chris and Dan met Mike through mutual friends and then the three of us recorded and released our debut single, 🎵 “Punchlines” in 2021.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 Our goals, if anything, have gotten bigger. We are looking now to record more, get out and play more and just interact with live music more. We cannot wait to show people who we are. Our aim is to play to more and more people and take the energetic pop punk to the masses.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 In the band, we have a range of influences, from classic rock to country to heavy metal. All of the styles help influence our music and help us learn new creative methods for our songs. We try not to focus on listening to one genre for inspiration and instead take a very wide approach to how we write and perform.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 We wish we had one. So far because of Covid we have been unable to tour or play a show but going forward, we cannot wait to be on a stage performing for everyone. Hopefully then, we’ll have some great stories.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 As a band, we’re pretty proud of every song we’ve written so far and they’re all enjoyable to play. We can’t wait to play them live and see what people think to them. 🎵 “Punchlines” holds a special place to us all as this is the first single we released and managed to record throughout lockdowns.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Outside of the band, our singer Chris is a semi-professional magician which is pretty cool. Otherwise, we spend a lot of time these days rehearsing and learning.

Closing things out, what is Keep This Up currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 So, on April 24th, we are recording our debut EP with Pete Godly of Violet Studios and we cannot wait for that to be released. We’re looking to book shows and get out there and show everyone what we can do!

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
