Sometimes, a collaboration that’s totally unexpected ends up being totally rewarding.

Drill rapper 🎙 Fivio Foreign and melodic, Aussie rapper/singer 🎙 The Kid LAROI join forces on the short but potent 🎵 “Paris to Tokyo”.  The duo gets a lift thanks to the drill-driven production by 🎛 Prod. By SB, in addition to a fitting sample of 🎙 Far East Movement’s 🎵 “Rocketeer” featuring 🎙 Ryan Tedder.  Tedder is masterfully repurposed on “Paris to Tokyo.” That said, he’s not the star.  That honor belongs to Fivio and The Kid.

The Kid LAROI has the most memorable part of “Paris to Tokyo” and arguably, the best.  With his youthful pipes and no shortage of swagger he melodically raps the chorus.  Expectedly, he’s tougher and more street smart than most 19-year-old musicians. “Walk in the store, get whatever you want  / That’s my bitch,” he asserts in the chorus, continuing, “Paris, Tokyo, London / I too her on all my trips.” In the chorus, he essentially talks about how special she is, how he spends money on her, how he’s been a player, but it’s different with her – we’ve heard this before, of course.   As for Fivio Foreign, he takes the sole verse, performed with the fast-paced, hard-nosed drill flow.  Foreign focuses on their ‘experiences’ together, best highlighted at the end of his verse:

“We order a piña colada for breakfast (Woo, woo)

And we sexin’, huh (We sexin’)

No Instagram, no textin’

Turn off the light, and I fuck her to Netflix (Woo).”

“Woo!” indeed.

Final Thoughts 💭

fire sunglassesSo, how impressive is 🎵Paris to Tokyo? All told, Fivio Foreign and The Kid LAROI assemble a surefire vibe.  That said, the vibe isn’t brand-new, and it is too short.  I enjoy listening to “Paris to Tokyo” but there’s not much song and certainly little substance.  It’s not the second coming or anything but worth listening to.
