usic chart analysis, here we come! Scanning the Charts is exactly what it says it is.  We peruse – scan – through the Billboard Charts and pick out eye-catching happenings. Scanning the Charts isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, we list 8 observations from the Billboard 200 ,  and 9 observations from the Billboard Hot 100 , with the Encanto soundtrack rebounding to the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

The Encanto soundtrack rebounds from no. 3 to no. 1 in its eighth week on the chart.

After topping the charts last week, Gunna sees DS4EVER slip from no. 1 to no. 2.  Likewise, The Weeknd slips one spot from no. 2 to no. 3 with Dawn FM.  

The Lumineers earn the highest debut on this week’s Billboard 200 at no. 6 ( Brightside).

Cordae earns a top-15 debut as From a Birds Eye View launches at no. 13.

ENHYPEN debuts right behind Cordae at no. 14 with DIMENSION: ANSWER.

Skillet earns a top-40 debut with Dominion (no. 38).

Earl Sweatshirt debuts modestly at no. 80 with Sick!

Caprisongs, the new FKA twigs mixtape, launches at no. 91.

Billboard Hot 100  

Adele spends her tenth non-consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Easy on Me”.

The Encanto record, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is a big-time hit! This week, it ascends from no. 4 to no. 2.  Seems to me, this infectious Disney tune is aiming for that “Number One Spot” Ludacris!

Who else is on the rise on the Hot 100? Rapper Kodak Black, who sees “Super Gremlin” ascend from no. 6 to no. 5.

Another Encanto record also lands in the top 10. Jessica Darrow sees “Surface Pressure” rise from no. 14 to no. 10.

Muni Long is on the up-and-up with “Hrs and Hrs”, which ascends from no. 25 to no. 17 in its fourth charting week.

Gunna earns the highest debut on the Hot 100 with “P Power” featuring Drake.  It launches at no. 24. 

The Game and Kanye West just earn a spot in the top 50 of the Hot 100 with “Eazy,” which bows at no. 49.

Rod Wave debuts at no. 58 with his enjoyable new single, “Cold December.”

Chris Brown debuts at no. 71 with “Iffy”.
