Scanning the Charts (02/24/2022): Encanto continues to be unstoppable on both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100.
M
usic chart analysis, here we come! Scanning the ChartsBillboard 200
Encanto spends a sixth week atop the Billboard 200. Surprising? Nope, not at all!
The Weeknd sees his most recent album,
Dawn FM, slip outside the top 10. It falls from no. 6 to no. 11 in its sixth week on the charts.
Despite βkicking ass and taking namesβ during the Super Bowl Halftime Show,
Mary J. Blige, The Queen of hip-hop soul, still musters up a modest debut for
Good Morning Gorgeous, her first new album in five years. Good Morning Gorgeous earns the highest debut on this weekβs Billboard 200, launching at no. 14.
The second-highest bowing album on this weekβs edition of the Billboard 200 barely cracks the top 30.
Eddie Vedder launches at no. 29 with
Earthling.
Debuting just outside the top-30 is
Big Thief.
Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You starts at no. 31.
Veteran alternative rock collective
Spoon gets in on the top-40 debut action as
Lucifer on the Sofa launches at no. 38.
With the release of the deluxe edition of her Grammy-nominated album,
Heaux Tales,
Jazmine Sullivan re-enters the Billboard 200 at no. 46.
Rapper
$NOT debuts at no. 66 with
Ethereal.
Another key part of the Super Bowl halftime show, unfortunately,
Snoop Dogg doesnβt reap the benefits on the Billboard 200.
BODR debuts tepidly at no. 104. Thatβs not very βDoggβ like!
alt-J debuts modestly too.
The Dream certainly has no dream launch at an unimpressive no. 110. Dream deferred!
Unfortunately, hunky country artist
Dustin Lynch didnβt have the sale odds in his favor. He can rock a mean cowboy hat, but he sure left us hanging with his ugly no. 125 start with
Blue in the Sky. So, a dashing guy gets an ugly debut? Makes no sense!
Talk about a free fall!
Mitski impressed us with her no. 5 bow last week but
Laurel Hell slides to no. 126 in week two! Day-um!
Billboard Hot 100
βWe Donβt Talk About Brunoβ spends a fourth week at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Glass Animals reach a new peak on the Hot 100. 57 weeks in,
βHeat Wavesβ ascends from no. 4 to no. 2.
Glass Animals arenβt the only high risers on the Hot 100.
GAYLE is on the up-and-up with her βpolarizingβ
βabcdefuβ which ascends from no. 7 to no. 4 13 weeks in.
Becky G and
Karol G earn the highest debut on the Hot 100 with
βMAMIIIβ which launches at no. 15.
Nicki Minaj and
Lil Baby earn another top 20 entry with
βBussinβ which launches at no. 20. Last weekβs
βDo We Have a Problem?β debuted more robustly at no. 2. That said, βDo We Have a Problem?β slides to no. 32 this week.
Ed Sheeran, assisted by
Taylor Swift, just misses the top 20 with
βThe Joker and the Queenβ (no. 21)
Future debuts at no. 34 with
βWorst Dayβ. Hmm, maybe earning a respectable start on the Hot 100 will cheer up the rapper!
Fivio Foreign,
Kanye West, and
Alicia Keys earn a top-50 launch with
βCity of Gods.β
Dove Cameron debuts at no. 73 with
βBoyfriend.β
Some good news for
Mary J. Blige as she sees
βGood Morning Gorgeousβ, the title track from her 2022 album, debut at no. 83 on the Hot 100.
Saweetie with an assist from
H.E.R., debuts at no. 89 with βCloserβ.

It should come as no surprise that
Encanto spends a seventh week atop the Billboard 200. As stated last week, it appears to be unstoppable! [β¦]
